    A projector for dvd mostly?

I connected a VCR with an indoor antenna to the 4805. Not great; not horrible either. If you have to watch SD on it then it's certainly tolerable. Tried a VHS tape and that looked worse (biggest problem being a lot of combing). I imagine compression artifacts would be more apparent with...

    A projector for dvd mostly?

I haven't tried SDTV on it yet. Heck, I haven't even tried HD on it yet! The way I have things set up in my room isn't the most convenient for that, but I can plug in a VCR and use an indoor antenna without a problem. I can predict it won't look so hot, given certain DVDs I've tried. It's...

    A projector for dvd mostly?

Turns out I had the firmware installed. I vaguely remember doing it shortly after I got the D1, but never had a need to do custom until now. I THINK I see a positive difference in the picture, but I'm not entirely sure. The pixel mapping concept is sound, however, so that's enough for me to...

I looked into that but haven't gotten around to it. I'm pretty sure I will need to update the firmware. I tried the 852 X 480, which is close, but didn't notice a difference. Maybe those extra two will? I'll keep you posted.

At 8' the largest image you can get is a 62" diagonal. For a 90" you'll have to be 11.57' to 13.92'. Play with the calculator on this page: http://www.infocushome.com/amer/eng/...lay/sp4805.asp

    A projector for dvd mostly?

My recommendation: It depends! (How's that for a non-answer?) Here are my reasons for getting the 4805: - Wanted to use the Bravo D1 at 720P or 1080i via DVI - Therefore preferred a 16:9 native aspect - Reduction of RBE, which is confirmed The pricing on the X1 was very tempting and...

Sounds like your DVD player is not set to 16:9 display. You can usually find this in the setup menu for the player. EDIT: If the DVD is not "enhanced for widescreen" you will get the same result regardless of the player setting. So make sure the DVD you are using is indeed one for 16:9 displays.

I would concur with the majority opinion that 2X is ideal. 1.5 reveals a bit too much for my taste and takes me out of the experience. Besides that, sitting behind the projector, the projector fan is less noticeable. I've also noticed the light spill some people despise so much. It's not a...

    A projector for dvd mostly?

I didn't take a good look at the photographs last night as it was getting late. Here are some of my observations now that my head is on straight. As usual, screenshots should be taken with a grain of salt, but they have their uses. I should have taken a shot of the X1 being fed 480i via...

    A projector for dvd mostly?

You're right, I take that back. I guess it was kind of late or something :) At this point the fan is a slight distraction, but it has to cool off somehow right? Have you had a chance to hear (or not hear) the fan noise on a Z2? I'm just curious how they compare. I also changed the Bravo D1 to...

    A projector for dvd mostly?

The 4805 arrived today, a mere 24 hours after I ordered it! I guess it helped that the distributor was only a state away! For each of the DVD players I set Brightness using Digital Video Essentials. Contrast and color settings were all left at 50%. Out of the box the image seems to have a bit...

Generally the X2 is geared more for presentations, not home theater use. I believe it does not have the Faroudja deinterlacing chip. The newly released 4805 is the actual X1 "sequel."

The 4800 is practically identical to the X1 (you can do a search here for the very minor differences). The X1 can be generally found for 1000.00 and InFocus is offering a 100.00 rebate if it is purchased by June 30 - yes, today!

Will do. I am able to make a side-by-side comparison with an X1 as well.

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those projectors. I think the combination of player and projector are also important to consider.
