Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I couldn't think of a better quote myself to apply to George Lucas.

Because the new colors fit with Mr. Lucas' "original vision".

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I don't agree with this sentiment on principle. The whole world had a very strong role in creating the phenomenon that is Star Wars. Where's our copyright on the experience we had in 1977? Without the ticket buyers, George Lucas would have ended his career a failed filmmaker, struggling to pay...

Put 4 billion dollars in my bank account and you can do anything you want to anything I ever created.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I have the Blu-ray Saga set and like it. The quality is actually very good for the original three films, given their transfer was done over a decade ago. The problem for me with the whole issue is the unavailability of the originals. Yes, I know that the DVD sets from '06 have the original...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I've read where there are at least several low-fade Technicolor 35mm prints in the hands of private collectors, including the British print that was shown at the Senator Theater in Baltimore in 2010: George Lucas also commissioned a private print from Technicolor when he made the film, which...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

Stay away from the odd pages; nothing good ever comes of them.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I see the "Original" Star Wars Trilogy as a time capsule. The first three films (Eps. IV to VI) may not have the technical wizardry of today's movies, but in the 70s and 80s, they were amazing and sparked the imaginations of millions. That's why it's important to have them in their original...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I think the likelihood of an unaltered release rests with Disney's motivation to do so far more than budget. And yes, there is a difference between the two. I think the marketers at Disney would consider doing a new home video release of Star Wars at an anticipated loss if it sees doing so as...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I think studios face a double edged sword with fan editors. They do distribute their work, true, but they do so without profit, which is a core concept in the definition of piracy. Hurt them and the studio risks hurting a segment of the core audience that made the film a hit in the first place...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

If Disney had any understanding of the "collector" mentality of many Star Wars fans, a Blu-ray re-issue of the films done right would sell very well. By that I mean qualities that set it apart from the current Saga boxed set. Start with newly minted transfers of the unaltered original trilogy...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

Regarding the money that Disney would be willing to invest in a new HD transfer of the Original Trilogy, let's not forget that Disney purchased Lucasfilm for 4 BILLION dollars in 2012 with no significant ROI until 2015/16. If their goals include a restoration/preservation with a Blu-ray as a...

Just release the original trilogy in the best possible format with good quality and I'll buy it. Period.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

Thank You. There is so much misinformation on this topic that it's out of control. Fox currently has distribution rights to the saga, not ownership, and I have a feeling even that may change in the relatively near future. Disney may presumably do as it pleases regarding video releases (barring...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

i'm fairly happy with the quality of the existing Blu-rays. They're certainly better than any other home video version I have ever had with regard to clarity. I was disappointed with the prequels, but I've found that to be largely a generational thing.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

There is no way Disney paid 4 BILLION dollars for Lucasifilm, only to allow GL to retain any control over the property whatsoever. It's been reported that Fox has rights to Episode IV forever and V/VI until 2020, but that is limited to distribution. They get a piece of whatever Disney does with...
