Same for me - went to visit my dad in Orlando and his wife was the chief architect of dinner which has been my job for the past 30 years. Was awesome not doing much but eating well.
I bought one about in August primarily because of the potential for shortages. Even when the current pandemic gets sorted the question remains what about the next one? Anyway they were fairly hard to come by in August but I happened to find a 14.8 cu ft Fridigaire on the Home Depot Website and...
My wife is the same way, but I occasionally manage to squeeze in a NY strip or ribeye on occasions such as father's day or my b-day. She always enjoys them, but still....
Thanks Nelson. I actually did buy yeast from Amazon - more yeast than I ever thought possible. IT seems to be just fine and I've been using it without any issues.
We have been perfecting pizza on the Primo ceramic grill at our house lately. Friday night is pizza night. I've been making my own dough using Bobby Flay's recipe and using 00 Italian flour - the results have been life-changing when it comes to pizza. Family says they are now broken for pizza...
Johnny, I go way back in this thread as a proponent of Sous vide (https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/whats-cooking.333909/page-43#post-4453037).
That said, and its simply my opinion, but the benefits of sous vide will be somewhat lost on tenderloin because, as the name suggests...
There is no drain plug on these so they decided to add one. I can see the utility in that - that cooler is pretty heavy when full of water and tilting it up to drain it can be tricky. I've not yet had a problem but can definitely envision a drain plug being helpful.
Johnny,
You are welcome. I checked out the review you mentioned and those are interesting mods that I may pursue on mine. I just used it on Saturday to sous vide some chicken breasts (split chicken breasts really benefit from SV) and when I went to drain the water on Sunday it was still quite...
I also have a food processor that gets used infrequently but when it does I'm really happy to have it. Hadn't thought about the pie crust idea..."food" for thought...
Easy doesn't always mean good. I get it. This isn't for everyone but if you haven't tried it or sampled what the result is then it is probably best to keep an open mind.
Actually it wasn't much more work as Dave suggests and the good news is you can freeze the individual bags prior to cooking which makes it actually a breeze for later dinners. As for the time - it's all self regulated. Kinda set it and forget it. If you ever cook BBQ low and slow this is...
For Christmas this year I got a sous vide device. Finally gave it a test last weekend:
First off I found this idea online to modify a Coleman cooler to serve as the cooking vessel:
Cut a 2 3/8" hole and the anova sous vide device fits perfectly. The insulation of the cooler is the perfect...
