Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

My mileage does vary. For the last decade I have only watched Avatar in 2D (including the sequel), and I love both movies. I refuse to watch movies in 3D these days. Since I have no way to watch 3D at home, I just don't want to know what I'm missing. I want to avoid the "this was so much...

That seems like a convenient retcon. Whatever though, it's Cameron, so I'll play along when ever I see it. Lang is listed as being in all the sequels, I hope he doesn't die and come back in each one.

Define "good." Next closest IMAX is more AMC fakeMAX 90 miles away. ATL is 180 miles away, which is the closest Dolby Cinema locations. The IMAX auditorium in town is probably the best auditorium, I assume because IMAX retains some control over the quality of their screens. I'd still have to...

Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

I love the first movie but I haven't even considered buying tickets to part 2. Ever since my 2 local theaters reopen from COVID, they have been trashy, broken chairs everywhere, marks on most of the screens and down right horrible projection. I canceled A-List back in February and have only...

Just what we need, light up bowls and cups in a movie theater.

Am I the only one a disappointed with the final trailer? I love the first movie but this looks, and sounds like a remake with more water. I know it’s just a trailer but all the beats we saw in the first movie are in this trailer. Having to learn the ways of a group of Navi, learning to ride...

I know these are just stills but, from them and the trailer the blue skin looks so much more real this time around. The smaller skin details and sub-surface scattering of light has come a long way since the first movie.

Wait, where is True Lies available in digital HD? I search the different storefronts on occasion and have never seen it available. It is listed on Vudu but you can't buy it. I don't understand why The Abyss and True Lies have been so neglected. Everything else in Cameron's catalogue has seen...

Plus, Jake is no longer an "Avatar" since he transferred his conscience into his Na'vi body at the end of the first film. I assume that his human body is long dead and gone. I know Cameron is going to do what Cameron is going to do but, my goodness, can we please get even a simple 1080p...

Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

I really enjoy Avatar and I have been excited about the sequels but, that teaser did nothing for me. Did not build up my excitement at all. The whole thing was just so mellow and calming, like it was a trailer for a nature documentary. This is the first new Avatar movie in 13 years, I was...

The detail in the Na'vi's skin is incredible. I thought they look great in the fist film but, there is a level of detail here that is almost photorealistic. Maybe it is a good thing it took him so long to make these sequels.

I'm curious about how these movies are being shot. I know there is a lot of motion capture and digital work but, when it comes to all these formats, 3D, IMAX, HFR, HDR, were the live action portion shot with all these in mind? Like, did he use 3D IMAX cameras and capture in HFR and HDR? I...

Yay, right. It will leak, probably before Doctor Strange is even released. Franglen worked as Horner's arranger and score producer from about 2009 until Horner's death in 2015. He won a Grammy as producer of "My Heart Will Go On" and he co-wrote, co-produced "I See You" from Avatar. Horner...

Tell me about it. We are still waiting for The Abyss and True Lies to come out in HD on any format (physical or streaming) much less a 4K release. Ugh. I'm so tired of sequels bringing back dead characters. Their fate was not ambiguous in the first movie, both were dead, no if ands...

Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

You know what's great about how long it has taken Cameron to get this made. The first Avatar really propelled the rise of the 3D craze and made people go nuts for 3D. Well, it been so long that he gets to revive 3D again with the sequel. Is he doing any IMAX with the sequels?

Why can't he just prepare "The Abyss" and "True Lies" for BD first before jumping all in with this Avatar stuff. I'm not asking him to spend a ton of time on them, just make sure the transfer looks good and release a bare bones disc. I just want these movies in high quality 1080p. UGH!
