DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia - THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yeah Tony I have freely admitted I haven't seen/read everything. My boggle was that I have seen quite a few movie adaptation of novels that I have read, and that list in comparison to the overall amount is quite small.

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia - THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED

The beauty about this adaptation, is it shows that if you put in the work and effort, and have the talent and studio support, you can get very damned close. I will agree that the books always come out on top, but that phrase has often been used by people in the industry as a "cop out" of...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia - THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED

Having now seen the movie, and being a fan of the book, I feel compelled to give my opinion on the film as an adaptation. I think this has to rank right up there with the best adaptations of a book that I like. I'm sure others can come up with better, but for my money, I'm a real picky viewer...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia - THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED

But do remember that Lewis and Tolkien were friends (just to head off any Tolkien vs. Lewis spinoffs). That said, Narnia and LoTR are two very different animals. Tolkien wrote and rewrote and re-rewrote (etc.) LoTR over many, many years. The attention to detail, the past of Middle Earth and...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia - THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED

No doubts, Mike. My only point was, from an admittedly amateur screenwriter standpoint, if you had given me free reign to make whatever length of movie I wanted out of this book, I would think that I could do it in about 2 hours. Contrast that with, say, The Lord of the Rings. I would...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Chronicles of Narnia - THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED

Okay, I bought the 2 discer and plan to watch it this week. Now I have read the book, but NOT seen the movie, so I am speaking a bit out of turn, but I'll say this: I'm fairly familiar with adaptations of novels to books, and even tried to tackle a few myself when I was unhappy with the...
