Well the 2007 HD-DVD version DID CONTAIN the mono soundtracks...... You had your choice of Dolby True 5.1 or mono for the hi-def side of the disc. For the standard side just the Dolby 5.1

You're right, that wasn't very helpful. Even the price fluctuated--it's now 83 euros.. Oh well it can't be more than 10 days till an official US announcement. I just hope all the stuff we want to know is made very clear and it doesn't just leave us with a different set of questions.

Amazon France has the Season one Blu-ray set up for pre-orderand shows it as 8 discs & release as April 27---they must have monday release in france. And the price is listed at 82 euros (about $120 ) Maybe someone who reads french could translate the page.

The HD DVD release had both HD & standard of the RE-MASTERED version. What some folks want is the NON-REMESTERED in HD. Paramount stated that after cleaning up the live-action elements---the space shots lokked so terrible in comparison it was pointless to make an HD version of the old FX...

Yes, I was sorta hard on Paramount but they have to accept that some folks want the non-remastered version. It's the only way some folks will make the purchase. As the opeiing post states they are including them, but it's not official. I hope they do, just as i hope people read the opening...

I WAS joking & poking a little fun as well. I way prefer the remastered, but absolutely they should include the original as well. To my mind the devotion to the original FX is silly, but it IS a fact many people want them and they should get them. I hope it's not just a rumor that they will...

Right. The thoroughly cleaned-up, color corrected, contrast-perfected brand new HD transfers of the live-action should be attached to the same 17 repetative super-dirty, super-grainy, non-specific to the episode, where sometimes the ship isn't even all there-----FX shots or some folks won't...

Yes, I too want to see those 19th generation prints used for the space shots in HD................ And cleaning them up will surely help the fact that in dozens of shots parts of the Enterprise simply are not there.

^^Right. TOS season 1 has 29 'hours' of episodes--so if they could get a least get 5 per disc---they'd only need 6. That's better than ten for sure.

I just looked up Smallvile season 7............. 20 episodes on 3 discs !!!! 6 or 7 to a disc ??? Holy cow! The TOS Trek episodes are 51 minutes long and the smallville maybe only 43, but still that would allow at least 5 trek episodes per disc--- Go for it Pramount---less is sometimes...

Yes, i think that is what he meant and I hope he is right. I hope we get the 5 per disc at least. For folks who own various TV series on Blu-ray...... How many hour long episodes do they fit onto discs usually??

I'd be great if they went to at least 5 per disc-----then we could get season 1 down to 6 discs. As long as it doesn't affect quality, I'm for it.

^^Yes you're right, separate discs would be a fourth option, but wouldn't that mean about 16 discs mimimum !!!! Four episodes per disc---8 for HD with the new FX & 8 for HD with the old FX. I can't imagine what a 16 disc set would cost from Paramount:eek: Or wait option...

I see 3 ways this could be interpreted.......... 1. Simply the old fairly dirty prints included in SD as a bonus..... 2. The newly cleaned-up prints in SD with the old FX OR......... 3. The newly cleaned up prints in HD with the old FX The third option would be the best case but...

I hope they make the non-remastered version in HD---otherwise why would the folks who already own the episodes in SD bother with this set? Having both the new & old FX versions in HD would make the 'purists' and the fans of the new FX happy. Simply having the original versions without being...
