A Few Words About A few words about…™ The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

That's not what I hear on the disc itself. The SFX are out of sync on the DTS:X (and the old Blu-ray's 5.1), but in the mono, they're bang-on. A separate issue is that in the "uncut" version, Arbogast's final scream is heard on the third stab instead of the first, where it obviously should be...

A Few Words About A few words about…™ The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I guess it's "special" in that it was how the film was always heard before 2010, and that it was supposed to be on the new discs, but was accidentally left off. So they're correcting it.

But had you seen it before? If you ever watched before 2010, it would have had the original audio.

It's very similar to the 5.1 that was on the previous Blu-ray release. The stereoized music sounds pretty decent, but the added/replaced sound effects just stick out to me: incongruous with the look and tone of the film. Where have you watched the movie before? The remix didn't exist until 2010.

A Few Words About A few words about…™ The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Why would a TV cut in the 60s remove the extra shot of Marion undressing, the extended shot of Norman's bloody hands, and the extra stabs on Arbogast, but leave the shower scene completely intact? And why would a TV cut be used to make almost every theatrical print and home video release since?

I've heard the disc, and the English 2.0 mono track definitely has all the replacement sound effects, while the mono on the previous Blu-ray did not. As Dave said, though, it does appear to be an honest mistake (the audio menu identifies the track as "Original Audio), so here's hoping it will be...
