That is fine.
I find JJ being "surprised" reading Rian's script enough proof that these were written and made completely independent of an overall outline.
But again, whatever. The only think that matters is the finished movie, and I was extremely satisfied with TLJ.
From the same article:
“When I read his first draft, it made me laugh, because I saw that was his take and his voice,” he said. “I got to watch cuts of the movie as he was working on it, as an audience member. And I appreciated the choices he made as a filmmaker that would probably be very...
As JJ Abrams says, reading Rian Johnson's Script and being clueless about the direction, or path of major characters proves the "mystery box" concept. If there was an outline, Abrams would have known before reading Rian's script about their direction from the outline. Outlines hammer home...

Hmm. This confirms there never was an overall outline for the three movie trilogy. An absolutely dangerous concept (no safety net) but we got TLJ one of the best SW films ever made so I guess I can't complain.
Here is JJ...
But Luke has always been a character of radical change. Everything he did in the OT was fearless, and according to his instinct of what he believes is best. On Dagobah, he didn't properly train at first, until Yoda showed him the error of his ways. Then he left Dagobah against Yoda's wish...
Fantastic. I just watched my BD for the first time a couple weeks ago, and his score is just magnificent. I liked it better than in the theater. A lot of John Williams movie scores are like that to me, they get better the more I listen to them.
Well the writers sort of painted themselves in a corner. Regardless of who it is, it is still a difficult spot to work from.
Either Kylo Ren is redeemed, and it makes for a happy ending, or he isn't and his character will have very little depth. Just another bad guy that loses a war(of course...
My question is why did Lucas even go there?
Wasn't it evil enough that Vader wiped out the Jedi Temple, and betrayed them with order 66?
I know there were younglings in the temple, and it would have been in the back of our minds if it didn't show the "Master Anakin, what do we do?" scene. I...
JJ and kasdan started it with the internal conflict of Kylo Ren in TFA.
He wasn't completely evil, he was conflicted between light and dark. What is the point of the writers to start that? what semblance would that serve if he just ends up dying without remorse or pity, or even dying at all...
I liked episode III a lot, but the novelization ending with Vader(just after his transformation to his life support suit) and Palpatine was sooo much better than the movie.
I understand completely where you are coming from. I hated TFA because my favorite character was killed off. When I was going to see TLJ my friend(that knew I hated The Force Awakens) said "do you think you will like this one?"
I said -well they can only kill Han Solo once so this has to be...
I know. I was saying the backlash from certain people wouldn't be a thing(or at least as big a thing) if they weren't continuations/prequels of characters from the OT. Most of the backlash comes from what people perceive OT characters would do, as opposed to the actions they take on the big...
Most of the unhappiness stems from them(all SW films from the last 18 years) being chained to the original trilogy.
Had Disney(or Lucas with the prequels) been brave enough to try something entirely new in the Star Wars universe, the backlash to these newer movies would be mostly non existent I...
I wonder if any recycled music from the OT John Williams score will be used in Solo. One of the reasons I loved TLJ was because the retro music in the key scenes. It really nailed the connection between the OT, and Rian Johnsons film perfectly. More so than any of the SW films since ROTJ I think.
I think it is great to see such spirited discussion of this film. I wish every movie I saw had such interest in talking about it.'
It can be frustrating when you love a movie, and others hate it, and vice versa. There has been a lot of talk about The Last Jedi, and it has been very polite...
Cinemascore is a pretty accurate source I think. Movies that got ctritically panned like Batman v Siuperman(B) or bad word of mouth films like Justice League(B+) I think the people paying for tickets tend to like most of the films they see. I can only count a handful of movies I really...
The "phenomenon" could have have been from multiple repeat viewings(I saw TFA 3 times, and I hated it).
Everyone I know that loved it saw it 6 or more times. The repeat business was swift with TFA. And while your personal experience of people that go because they are curious and don't really...
I'm not sure. I just figured everyone that saw TFA should have been on board to see TLJ. I'm actually concerned about the next film.
After all this negative talk about it(TLJ)how will it affect the box office for the final film in this trilogy?
And I still feel Disney is plenty displeased with these numbers, if for no other reasons than having such an embaressing record of all time biggest drop, and horrible word of mouth. Say what you will, but when Iron Man 3, or Avengers 2 can outperform an iconic name brand like Star Wars, I...
Yeah that is weird when a stranger wants to chat after a movie. I remember seeing the hateful eight with a nice middle aged couple next to me on New Year's Eve. They were very pleasant, but a little too chatty for my comfort level. I took it as they might have had a few too many alcoholic...
Right. That is the same thing I saw with Justice League people leaving the theater loving it(Cinemascore is at a B+, along with the most well respected film critics in agreement) With a slew of angry fanboys bringing the score of it down at Rottentomatoes. I think the problem in this day and...
in Episode 1,The Darth Maul battle between Obi Wan, and Qui Gon-A Sith against two fully trained Jedi-is one of my favorite Star Wars scenes of any of the films. It is just so amazing to watch.
