Disney+ Disney+ Streaming Service (Official Thread)

Right, but my biggest issue is the language of the disclaimer which is simply horrific. Makes me feel guilty, and wretched for just attempting to watch it. And I don't plan on having a discussion with someone after viewing to learn from the "mistakes of the show". I mean it's The Muppet...

Disney+ Disney+ Streaming Service (Official Thread)

The Muppet Show is getting the old: "This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures," These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversations to...

I don't usually get this interested in a remake/reimagining of a film I think was perfect to begin with. But Disney will have my subscription money on release day. I wonder if Disney will ever release any of their original content on disc?

$30 is too high. $20 was the sweet spot. No way this is successful.

Very, very few for me. Just the films I would hold close to my heart. Splash is one of them.

If I didn't already own the BD, I'd gladly pay the $150 aftermarket price for it on E-Bay!

Splash is one of my favorite 80's films. The chemistry between Hanks, and Hannah is intoxicating. John Candy and Eugene Levy are phenomenal, and it has a great story with a fairy tale ending. I saw it in theaters as an 11 year old, and it is still as great now as then. I would not want a...

which is the reason I am stressing the BD to own. The HD version on Disney + is a newer transfer and does look better! They might "upgrade" to that on iTunes.

Disney+ Disney+ Streaming Service (Official Thread)

PG is the original rating. It is uncut on iTunes. Disney + changed it to PG-13, and took out and altered some scenes (Daryl Hannah nude at the Statue of Liberty, and in her mermaid form underwater where there is more brief nudity though much of he hair covers her chest for the most part)/

No. It is the original "PG" version with no cuts. Well worth $18.

$150 is the cheapest I have seen it recently new, and sealed. Good you got a copy when you did.

Not to sound mean Matthew, but your boycott does nothing to harm Disney. You have made a stand, and I respect your choice to do so, but boycotting Disney is like me saying I will never eat another "Big Mac" from McDonalds. My refusal to do so wont affect the billions of other Big Macs they...

...and it looks like the people selling the "Splash" BD on E-Bay realize just how unique it truly is (because of the edited version on D+ no doubt) and jumped the price $50. Now going for $150 at the minimum. :(

Yes but the problem is that Splash never got a U.S. release. the short lived Blu-Ray from Australia which is region free is great, but many fans of the movie never knew it existed. So they are stuck with the awful Touchstone DVD. A real shame. I'm sure Carroll Ballard's "Never Cry Wolf" will...

Daryl Hannah brief nudity. A shame the Blu-Ray is so rare, and expensive. There are some fantastic special features. I watched it a few nights ago, and it looked great. If you a re a big fan of the film it is worth the aftermarket price though IMO!

Disney+ Disney+ Streaming Service (Official Thread)

Look I still think Disney + is a great service, and an amazing value. The reason I'm no longer subscribed is because nearly everything I want to see on it, I own on disc. In 4K or 3D. That leaves only the original programming and so far there has been not enough to keep me subscribed. "Togo"...

Well I knew this would never happen, so it isn't surprising. Especially since they started cutting, and altering G, and PG rated films (and changing their rating to PG-13) on their platform. They are micro-managing to the extreme to fit the what they feel is acceptable. I look forward to The...

Disney+ Disney+ Streaming Service (Official Thread)

I mentioned earlier that this is their platform, and Disney can do whatever they feel necessary to fit in the mold of "family friendly". This isn't a service for film preservation. It is a modern streaming service designed by modern Disney. This isn't a premium cable network like HBO. They...

I had Netflix for 3 solid years, and probably watched less than 20 hours of content. I actually forgot I was subscribed to it toward the end, and then cancelled abruptly when I realized I was paying them for the privelage of having a service I no longer wanted, or used.

Even though you save money, I will never do a streaming sub annually again. I just get Disney + (and all the other popular streaming services alternating) for a month at a time. The only service I have annually is Amazon Prime, but that is for the cheap, quick shipping to fuel my physical...

I see that "Splash" has been edited for content, and the rating has been changed from PG to PG-13. Disney + can do whatever they want with the content they offer. It is their "family friendly" streaming service, it just reminds me of watching movies on cable TV. I'm really glad I have the...

Very impressive service. A steal for $7 a month. I have noticed some weird omissions like 4 of my favorite live action films not being added yet. Never Cry Wolf, Island at the Top of the World, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and The Watcher in the Woods. I hope they launch soon.

I remember the Disney channel in the early 90's played the Planet of the Apes TV series from 1974. along with a lot of other content from Fox. I'm hoping that Disney + does the same. I am still leery about joining yet another streaming service, but that will make the decision easy for me.
