This comment from Josh is all you really need. It's spot on.
In addition, compression algorithms have improved allowing for more content on a disc without compression playback issues. The original DVD's were "standard definition" and used the MPEG-2 compression scheme at a bit rate of about...
We started the day at work with a full, district wide, internet failure. I've spent my morning troubleshooting. Today's "date" never entered my mind (and I generally ignore it anyway - I work in a K-12 environment - kids... ) even after reading your 2nd post.
My assumption (yeah, I know) is that with MPI involved we *will* be seeing all 14 seasons and that they will handle *all* of the transfers and remastering needed. The only thing I see as being up in the air is the time frame.
Based on the few "progress reports" from Sam on the Kickstarter I'd be amazed if he managed to get just *one* season completed before throwing in the towel and calling in experts.
There are *lots* of episodes on youtube should you want to sample a few before making a purchase.
FWIW - I highly recommend the series, even as a blind buy (at least for a season or two).
Ozzie's best friend in S1-S5, Thorny, is played by Don DeFore (aka "Mr. B" from Hazel).
I can't credit Sam for these releases outside a minor role. He appeared to be quite obstinate about *his* ability to "go it alone" and get it done. From what I remember, MCI was one of the studios (or the only studio) who approached him about partnering in getting the series released and he...
Artwork is up at both Target and deepdiscount and DD has corrected their 2nd season listing, now showing it to be Season 2. Disc count is still showing 4 discs so that remains up in the air...
Target is showing 990 minutes runtime for each season which is ~25 1/2 minutes/episode.
Hazel was from Shout! It's on 4 discs/season (35/32/32/26/29 eps. for the 5 seasons). Shout! also did Dennis the Menace and Father Knows Best which have 5 discs/season (except for S1 of FKB with 26 episodes on 4 discs) and similar episode counts as Ozzie and Harriet.
I'm counting on DD's disc count to be inaccurate along with the inaccurate description on S2. In any case, we'll know for sure as the release date gets closer.
I seriously doubt they'd do split season releases.
Their Donna Reed Show releases are 5 discs/season and I'd expect similar here...
FWIW - Deepdiscount has both seasons of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet listed for pre-order *BUT* they both show to be S1. And they're just over $1/each less expensive from DD, who also shows a MSRP of $29.98 for each (still a good price). They also show them to be 4 disc sets. If that's...
I normally wait for lower prices/sales for my TVonDVD purchases - but @ $24/each for those seasons at *pre-order* time... well... that's a very good price by itself! Frankly, it's borderline bargain priced which is not at all what I was expecting for this series.
I'd like to think they'd not use TL as a "test market" simply because TL consistently overprices their product. I'd guess more than half the potential market for that TL set avoided it due to cost, even with TL's typical "Pay over xx months" offer.
I've been burned several times by...
For the few shows I own that have such an option, it's on an episode by episode selection. I guess it's *possible* it can be done on all episodes at once but I never use a "Play All" function on any series (and get annoyed on those which "Play All" no matter *what* you've selected) so really...
Commercials should *always* be inserted via seamless branching. With that method the end user simply selects from a menu which version to watch. It's much less intrusive than having to hit skip on a remote when a commercial comes up.
Time-Life has *never* been known for having truly "good" sales/offers/prices. In my experience with them (going back to CD collections in the 90s) they're 50%-100% higher than the closest competitor's price, consider it a "sale" if you can get something for 15-20% off (still over what others...
If a site requires a log in to gain access to their "coupons" I just say no and leave. All that does is invite SPAM to your email account tied to whichever login account you used (and I don't use any of those to log in 3rd party sites unless it's for using "Amazon payment").
Not that I remember. It's been a loooong time since I've purchase directly from them but, IIRC, the codes were on their site though it's possible they were official codes obtained from a 3rd party code site - I check them occasionally but they rarely pay off so I tend to just ignore them these...
The coupon codes I've used were always from TL with those sets purchased from the TL web site.
I'll wait for MPI or TL or whoever releases them - I'm done with TVonDVD "Greatest Hits" releases unless it becomes apparent that *no* season releases are coming. Every one of those things I've...
FWIW - My experience with purchasing DVDs from Time Life is I *always* use a coupon and often combine that with a sale. I've typically waited up to 12 months for a product to go to retail and, when it doesn't, get tired of waiting and just order from Time Life. Once I do that I can pretty much...
I feel your pain. We had ~$15K damages to our kitchen/hall and were unable to find a contractor who would do the job (in spite of having "replacement cost" insurance). We just wanted it fixed - they all wanted to remodel (which insurance wouldn't cover) so now we're doing the work ourselves...
That's what I have. While I'd love to have more I can certainly "make do" with them if necessary.
I grew up watching the show and saw some episodes in syndication (don't know just when or what channel but it's been sometime within the past 30 years). I listen to 50s music along with 30s,40s...
Based on what I've observed over the years with MC releases, they'll break it up into several smaller sets (they've already started this), leave a couple of discs completely out/unreleased, milk the smaller set sales for a couple of years, and just before they take those smaller sets OOP they'll...
Based on the episode listing at Amazon US that's a re-release which duplicates exactly the contents of discs #3, #6, and #11 from the MC "Essential" 100 episode collection. Not surprising coming from MC.
That is exactly why the program is now PD. Had Mr. Nelson put the year of copyright on the show it'd have been protected. As I mentioned earlier there's a "art" section of early copyright law that seems to apply to motion pictures but it really does not. Those early laws didn't truly take...
It's nice a status "update" isn't blocked and available only to backers for a change. The problem with that post is it truly makes me feel he's in way over his head on this project and needs to admit he can't handle it and just suck it up and partner with someone who *can* do it properly and...
^Yes, you would think that would be the case. I know were it me, *I'd* want people to know to build excitement and anticipation. But it could be that he's tired of all the negativity surrounding the delays and is wanting to just leave anyone not helping with funding in the dark until something...
This was done regularly with The Beverly Hillbillies and for the most part is fairly non intrusive. However with other programs it was typically just the cast hawking the sponsor's product. They are certainly nice to see for nostalgia but not every time an episode is viewed. That's why I'm a...
