Hi Dana Forgive my ignorance, but what was the issue with 'Tarzan Escapes'? It's the only one of the three I haven't seen, and I always thought 'Tarzan and His Mate' was the most heavily censored one, with the swimming scene. But have I got that muddled up?

The Last of Sheila is one of our very favourite movies. I always hesitate about putting the awful DVD on for friends in case they, as I do, find the soundtrack so badly muffled as to make it at times totally incomprehensible. I hope there is some way they can remedy this. But still .. it's one...

Overlooked in all those lists is 'The Desert Song', which hasn't even had a halfway decent DVD release. The Warner Archive DVD was an unviewable travesty, a dark, lifeless image which lacked the visual appeal of the very good VHS. Though purists hate the way the story has been dumbed down so...

At last. Great musical and should look ravishing in refurbished Technicolor.

Years since I read the Sabatini novel so I can't judge which is most truthful. But his novels were amazing (when read as an 11 or 12 year old) and the Flynn movie is a ripper!

Yes yes please The Last of Sheila. The image quality is ok on the DVD but the muffled soundtrack makes it virtually unplayable for me. Such bad audio. I hope it's not an endemic issue and can be improved for Blu ray release.

I am inspired by the comments about Fred and Lucille in 'This Heart of MIne'. So long since I've seen it! I'll fire up my woodfire space heater, lower the projection cinema screen and pull out the DVD this afternoon! We're so lucky to be in this age of instant video gratification!

I asked time after time for a Blu ray release of 'The Major and the MInor' and it WAS released. And undoubtedly, due solely to my efforts. Way back I asked for 'Casablanca' too.

My DVD of Blandings was totally fine until,years ago, I lent it to an architect friend to screen to some of his students. By the time I viewed it again, I'd moved interstate and it was too late to complain about the scratches ..... So this could not be more welcome. One of my favourite movies...

And if it's under the Amazon aegis,it means overseas buyers should be able to order from it .. which they couldn't from the old shop. For that reason, good riddance to it, I say.

I wrote just yesterday in another thread that i couldn't imagine seeing a major quality lift in Annie Get Your Gun if it came to Blu ray as the DVD was so good. So here it is, just announced, and I know I'm going to have to succumb and buy the darn thing. We love it despite the dreadful ending...

I'm sure they're the same excellent transfer. Mine is so old it's in the Snapper case with the cardboard front which I love and everyone else hates. I'm sure they wouldn't have sought to improve that transfer for another DVD edition.

The Annie Get Your Gun DVD (for which we waited so many years) was a brilliant DVD, pretty well up to Blu ray standard. It will take an exceptional transfer to better it significantly. Still, if it came up, I'd get it ... just in hope of something astonishing.

That single BB disc would make a terrific Blu ray. A bit like the Fred and Ginger and Judy Garland compilation discs I've lovingly crafted myself .. though on standard DVD, not Blu ray. I go to a lot of work .. on 'Fine Romance' I edit out all the crap guff which happens halfway through the...
