General Discussion Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 5 General Discussion (Spoilers discussed for All Films -- Please Read First Post)

If Young Avengers is successful, I could see another Marvels movie or Ant-Man movie. The third Ant-Man would have been successful if Marvel had devoted the time and resources to getting it right. The opening weekend proves that the audience interest was there. The bad word of mouth killed it...

I think this is just the first salvo. It's clear that they have larger plans:

I think there's a possibility that they bring over the Fox X-Men actors to the MCU. But I also think it's possible that the Fox X-Men cameos will continue to be restricted to other universes within the multiverse and (Deadpool aside) they'll want to cast new actors for all of the main roles.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting the following scheduling changes for the upcoming Marvel Studios TV series in response to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and Bob Iger's decision to drastically scale back the amount of original scripted content for Disney+: "What If...?" Season 2 will...

General Discussion Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 5 General Discussion (Spoilers discussed for All Films -- Please Read First Post)

I doubt it got to that point. No Way Home was already juggling so many characters that I don't think Watts, McKenna, and Sommers wanted to bring in anybody from the other universes unless they were absolutely necessary. Even the villains from the Maguire movies and Garfield movies spoke to the...

General Discussion Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 5 General Discussion (Spoilers discussed for All Films -- Please Read First Post)

I think the underperformance of The Flash made a Maguire Spider-Man 4 a lot less likely. There was a lot of different factors working against that movie -- Ezra Miller's apparent mental breakdown and ensuing string of criminal acts, the decision to end the Snyderverse and reboot the DC cinematic...

I don't know, I think Disney would rather have 1-2 tentpoles that are hugely successful than 3 tentpoles that struggle to break even.

Marvel is still the biggest cash cow that Disney has at the moment. I would bet that the days of three tentpoles a year are over, though. And Kevin Feige not stretched so thin might not be a bad thing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is hitting pause on Blade due to the writers strike. "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto was in the middle of polishing the script when the strike was declared. Captain America: New World Order is currently filming in Atlanta, and production is...

General Discussion Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 5 General Discussion (Spoilers discussed for All Films -- Please Read First Post)

Apparently the reprehensible thing was being asked to blur out some rainbow pride flags and the word "PRIDE" in the background of a few shots in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania for the versions being released in markets that have laws against promoting LBGTQ+ lifestyles. Executives also have...

The attorney says she was fired because "she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible." If that's true, wouldn't it make sense to share what that reprehensible thing was, rather than casting vague aspersions?

And "The Incredible Hulk" was released by Universal before the Marvel Studios brand had significant traction with audiences, and both Black Widow and Eternals had significant pandemic impacts.

It (slightly) outperformed the two earlier films domestically, but it significantly underperformed the two earlier films internationally. The fact that the decision came from HR and legal would seem to imply some sort of misbehavior. All of the production problems outlined though speak more to...

General Discussion Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 5 General Discussion (Spoilers discussed for All Films -- Please Read First Post)

I'm glad we got the Disney+ "Hawkeye" series to hand the mantle off to Hailee Steinfeld in a respectful way. I'd be happy to see Clint pop up again in the future, but it doesn't feel as necessary as it would have before "Hawkeye". I think it speaks to one very specific issue, which is that all...
