Yes, but with the caveat that Showtime is dumping a lot of original content ahead of the merger.
Correct, which is why I think they went with such a clunky name. They want to make it crystal clear that the premium tier has additional content.
Paramount Will Merge Paramount+ and Showtime Content on Both Streaming and Linear
About damn time. It never made sense to have them separate in the first place, and they probably wouldn't have been if Viacom and CBS hadn't been separate companies at the time.
I was referring to HDR. HDR has not worked for 4K Paramount+ content on the Roku for months. I'm not Atmos equipped, so whether content has Atmos or not is irrelevant to me.
I subscribed to this for "Picard" and still haven't gotten around to cancelling it. I'm working my way through the new Twilight Zone, and I want to catch up with "The Good Fight" before I cancel.
Even though it airs on CBS and has the CBS Studios logo at the end, it's actually a Disney...
I believe all North American TVs have to play 29.97i, and most HDTVs also play 23.976p and 59.94i and 59.94p. The limitation to 24p/23.976p is the streaming platform, not the final display.
Most streaming services are designed for 24fps progressive content. The old 29.97fps interlaced content can cause issues. If they were shot on film and then telecined with 3:2 pulldown, it's fairly easy to get back to 24p. But if they were shot on video tape, and only an interlaced source...
They never should have split in the first place. That was Les Moonves throwing his weight around and protecting his fiefdom. That's no longer an issue, for obvious reasons.
Among other things, the CBS-Viacom split is part of why Paramount's in the sorry state it's in.
