I replaced my RX-V1900 which had a lose HDMI connection that I had to wiggle to get the display back on the TV everytime I pulled the cabinet away from the wall to vacuum clean. This what I replaced it with.
The RX-V1900 is to the left
I took another step forward with this and decided to try and centralize my music distribution for three of my systems. I moved from having 3 USB drives, one per system controlled through a ROKU per system to distributing music via my laptop to all 3 systems. What prevented me from centralizing...
Mods, maybe this can be moved towards a more appropriate thread.

Here's the entertainment center with cassette deck. The bluetooth attached subwoofer sits between the left hand side of the recliner and behind dining room chair against the wall. I've been resting the soundbar across the open cabinet doors and I was tired of the rats nest of wiring that was...
I was 21 years old in university when I cruised down to the local audio shop. What I saw made my jaw drop and the salesman helped me pick it up once he told me how expensive it was. I've been lusting after this longer than my beloved late my wife and I have been married. If she were alive today...
My first ever purchase on EBay was accidental when I asked for a lower price (not thinking the seller was going take it) and he accepted. So I bought this deck and figured what the hell and plugged it into my system. I was disappointed to say the least as tape speeds were different across both...
I was really curious to try a Harmony 890 remote as the look appealed to me so I purchased one off of EBay for a good price.
I thought I had made a purchase mistake because it didn't come with the USB cord which is different than those used by the 650 and 665 remotes. I luckily found one...
Sadly my WD TV Live streamer stopped working on my 2nd system and I'm looking at the Nvidia Shield Pro as a possible replacement. I will use it mainly to serve music stored on a USB WD 3TB hard drive to my AVR. Will it display album artwork on a per folder basis like my Iomega and Roku drives do...
One of my recent upgrades from DVD to BluRay. All I can say is wow from both an audio and video perspective. What an upgrade in both aspects. I never get tired of this flick!!.
I had to switch to the BluRay copy of the disc to finishing watching it. It stuttered on a couple of 4K releases in the past but a little rewind and play and it played through. Dune totally locks it up. Anyone else with this issue?
I grew up on a farm nestled near the top of Steve's Mountain in NB. The house was so old it still had a water cistern in the basement on top of a dirt floor. Electricity was clearly an after thought when it was installed. Insulation if any was rock wool blown in behind slats covered with horse...
I see two fundamental flaws with SS amp warmup and the audible differences people claim they hear. 1) The warmer the transistor becomes, the more thermal or Johnson noise is generated at the junctions of the transistor. It may or may not be audible but the point is that noise generation is...
I won a Yamaha KX-1200 off of Ebay yesterday. The seller reported that it just stopped recording recently. Once I get it, I will drop it off at the technicians shop which I used before and does great work. If he fixes it and replaces all the belts, it will have easily doubled its price that I...
A year ago between 4:45 and 4:50pm, my wife passed away from neck cancer. Its been a very difficult journey for my family members and I and the pain of loss is still very much accute in all of us. The only solace I can find in today is that she doesnt have to to go through this anymore and I do...
Every once in a while, the miniDSP in the great room goes wonky and seems to either lose or forget the configuration file I had downloaded too it. None of my subs turned on and I noticed the blue LED flashing on the mini. Yesterday, I had to take my PC and connect to the miniDSP and download...
I did not have time to install and calibrate it into the system. I did temporarily connected it to see if it worked because UPS absolutely mangled the box. I tested it with The Edge of Tomorrow opener and a few scenes from the Godzilla movie starring Matthew Brodderick and it sound very OK to...
The fun started today. I've purchased a second identical PSB Subsonic6 used and cheap, have a miniDSP. This room is so irregular shaped with a gaping that I could not find a sweet spot for a single sub like I did for the basement.
No matter where I placed a single sub, I never got a smooth...
Here are some pics of my system in my bedroom. My late wife hated that I had the equipment on the dresser and she gave me the idea to partially repurpose the dresser. I had to remove the 3 drawers in the middle to accomodate the equipment as well as removing the back panel as well because the...
I've been busy with REW lately..using it yesterday to find the best location for my single sub. I found it left of the fireplace as shown below. The couch spans 6' across so I took 3 measurements, at the center, 24" to right of center, and 24" left of center.
Here's just the bass response with...
I've decided to tackle this again but in a different way. Room EQ was turned off, and the crossovers were set to 200Hz, the highest available setting on the AVR. Each graph has the 3 measurements across the width of the listener position (couch) but at a different location within the room.
I...
I hate paper sleeves as liners and I had purchased some plastic sleeves so everytime I played a record, I would toss out the paper sleeve and use the plastic sleeve instead..until.. I pulled out Supertramp "Even In The Quietest moments on the A&M label. There sleeves were paper but had a plastic...
Its nice to be here. I'm a little obsessed with HT and 2 channel music having 3 systems, one per floor in my home. Although this may sound excessive (excuse the pun), its been mainly built around used equipment. The only equipment I bought new were all the displays, one AVR that I gifted to my...
