Thanks for sharing. I sold my DVDs because I figured next time I watch it I'll just buy the HD streaming versions. Now if only they'd start streaming the rest of Gomer Pyle, Mayberry RFD (I know, different rights holder), I Love Lucy, Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and others.
Sadly no. CBS barely releases its shows to DVD, so a Blu-ray is pretty much out of the question at this point in time. On the other hand, iTunes and Amazon offer HD streaming versions of the complete series, but I haven't yet tried them out to see if they're any good.
It seems that as the season went onward there were more and more shots that weren't the sharpest quality. I'm not sure if most of the original negatives weren't available and they spliced in prints, but the jump in clarity between many shots was dramatic at times.
I agree with what you said about pop-outs. I know some say that they only want powerful 3D, but even so-called bland 3D is so much better. If it's accurate without errors (which most are except Clash of the Titans) then it's preferable.
