Not to be too mean to Ms. Lanouette, there is one other aspect of her commentary that I neglected to mention in my initial post: she needs to have her eyesight checked. In her commentary during the scene where Kramer opens the apartment door to bring in the newspaper while Justin Henry dole's...
Jennine Lanouette's audio commentary was, easily, one of the top 5 worst I've ever heard. Her input was almost totally useless, providing basically no information about the production itself, limiting her commentary to the screenplay only, which she over-praised throughout. And, with all of the...
Best Buy has been pulling this for quite a while. Five minutes after placing a pre-order they put it in "getting ready for packaging" status and gray out the "cancel" button, even if the item won't be available for 6 months, just to discourage you from even trying to cancel. Of course you can...
Make it 6...I just watched the 4K and, as good as the Arrow is, the 4K is better. It's the perfect middle ground between the Arrow and the MGM...better blacks than the Arrow, without the predominant black crush of the MGM.
"The slightly sharper image here from the former Blu-ray release is indeed masterful and worthy of acclaim, and the occasional specks and dirt from before are now completely gone. Black levels are also just a tad darker in this transfer..."
Are the comparisons you're making in reference to the...
"Really would like The Professionals on 4k, one film that never gets stale, would love to see it theatrically."
I totally agree, with one condition.
For some reason the current blu-ray of The Professionals has forced sub-titles for ALL of the Spanish dialog.
I've seen The Professionals, as it...
"Joe Keller should have been the role to earn Edward G. Robinson his first Oscar nomination".
I TOTALLY disagree. Edward G. Robinson should have been nominated, and most-likely should have won, four years earlier, for Best Supporting Actor in Double Indemnity.
If you've seen the film - as I...
I certainly remember that the characters live in a "movie world", but in order to buy into the movie you have to, at least to some point, be able to believe the characters even if you don't believe the situation. And for a movie that is obsessed with realism to the point where it was actually...
I purchased this 4K UHD as a blind-buy after reading the excellent reviews, and given the fact that I love time-travel movies. For those who like or love the film, I'm glad you got such a stellar transfer. For me, however, I didn't even make it completely through the first viewing before I was...
Out of curiosity, which title were you rooting for to be on the top of WAC's list? For my part, that is an incredibly easy decision: Gentleman Jim. I just re-watched it the other day on DVD, and it not only stands the test of time, but gets better with repeat viewings. Great performances by...
When the name Christopher Plummer comes up for most people I would assume that the first movie that comes to mind is "The Sound of Music". For me, it's the movie, and the role, that is most opposite of that one: "The Silent Partner".
The thing I remember most from that excerpt of the Ed Sullivan Show with Cagney and Fonda recreating a scene from the fiilm was Cagney forgetting his lines and Fonda having to rescue him...a very uncomfortable 30 seconds or so.
