    I'll pick up a fuse, although I'm not sure it will help. Would the light come on if the fuse is blown? Does anyone know of a good source to have it gone through and repaired at a reasonable cost?

    Thank you for the response. I was able to push it in several times as you described with no visible signs of damage, and no scraping sound. No sound of any kind really. Does that indicate that the driver is fine, or just a sure sign if it's bad? Any tests I can run next? I don't know much about...

    Yes, I had it unplugged from the receiver as I investigated what was going on. I'm not sure that crackle would be the best description, but I wanted to stress that it did make a very slight sound. Power won't stay on long enough to do anything through the reciever.
