I just began the final season IN COLOR with the first two episodes watched, and I'm loving the color so far. I was expecting the color to be a bit jarring at first, but that's not the case. It's just as riveting.
I'm enjoying the series for the first time, and I'm probably laughing at it for all the wrong reasons. The show has a bizarre feeling to it, as though it's something from some alternate universe. That's the only way I can explain it.
Thanks for letting me know. I'm more happy with the knowledge that I do have the set with the original music. I was hesitant in buying it for fear that it wasn't.
I bought the same set and compared the music in the episode "With String Attached" to a copy of a download I had. The music is the same in SOME scenes, but completely different in other scenes. I don't know which is the original music. For example, near the end when the cops come running into...
The Image DVDs are a mixture of what appear to be 35mm and 16mm. I'll watch an episode that has a sharp resolution, and it's followed by an episode that looks very grainy.
I contacted Warner Archive and they replied that there are no plans to release Season 2. I also asked about Season 2 of "The Eleventh Hour" and was told there are no plans to release that either. I enjoyed Season 1 of both shows.
I'm currently watching Season 2 with the Army episodes, most of which I don't care for. The Army episodes come to an end beginning in Season 3, so I'm grateful for that.
I hope "Mayberry" is the complete uncut episodes, not the butchered syndicated prints that are currently floating around online. Next up, we need the UNCUT "The Real McCoys". The compete series released years ago was butchered syndicated prints.
I watched the entire series on tubitv and was unimpressed. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on buying the DVD set. The most annoying thing about the show was Arthur Lake's constant "Huuuuuuuhhh???" when somebody asked him something.
The FilmRise channel on youtube has uploaded Seasons 4-9, with the remaining two seasons to follow shortly. They are in beautiful high definition, and uncut.
Seasons 1-8 are on tubitv.com for those of you who don't want to buy them.

Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Spot on! I remember watching it when I was a child and wondering why Ricky and Lucy were calling each other "Nicky and Tacy".
I watched the Season 1 episode "The Babysitter" yesterday, featuring Colleen Dewhurst as a disturbed woman who kidnapped a baby. This was my favorite scene, with Dewhurst and Collin Wilcox.
