    Disney+ Marvel's WandaVision

No surprise. The WandaVision story is done and the next chapter will be picked up in the upcoming Dr. Strange movie. Now a new story of how Wanda and Vision might reunite is possible, perhaps how she helps him regain his humanity? I'd watch that.

I agree. The way Sellers plays Mandrake throughout the conversation. You watch as Mandrake comes to realize just how nuts Ripper is, how it plays across his face, and the film's positioning that Mandrake may be the only sane man in the entire movie.

    Resident Alien (2021)

Hogan says in the intro to the *Resident Alien* omnibus that he approves of the changes to his work, the idea is Harry goes from an amoral character to a more compassionate one.

    Resident Alien (2021)

In the series of graphic novels, via flashbacks, we learn Captain Hah Re is sent to Earth as an observer to report on the planet and its people. He's shot down but manages to send out a distress signal. Since he doesn't know when help will arrive he uses his training to blend into the...

General Discussion Best Final Line in a Movie

Maltese Falcon: "The stuff that dreams are made of." (Technically, the last word is "huh" but since it's a word and not a line . . . )

So Bad They're Fun movies we still want on Blu-ray

Cobra. Where the height of character development is Stallone cutting a pizza with a pair of scissors. Every 80’s action cliche packed into 90 minutes. (And there’s a two hour version out there, somewhere.)

    Lovecraft Country

The series as a whole was less than the sum of its parts, although taken individually the parts were pretty damn good. And informative for those folks who think of the 1950s as being bland and benign. In the matter of race, they were not. The problem is the series failed to stick the landing...

Movies You Changed Your Mind About

Not a movie but rather the Adam West "Batman" series. Loved it as a kid. When it resurfaced years later on Nick I watched it. Or tried to. Ye Gods, it was stupid. Not even the charms of Yvonne Craig or Julie Newmar helped. After five minutes I wondered: did I have brain damage as a child?

    Disney+ Marvel's WandaVision

Be curious to see to what extreme Marvel takes Wanda's reality shifting powers and how this series leads into the next Dr. Strange film. She's one of the MCU's most powerful characters and apparently using those powers to create a reality where she and Vision are happily married is intriguing...

Warner Archive Press Release: Space Ghost & Dino Boy: The Complete Series (Blu-ray)

This thread's been a trip down H-B memory lane. Some series I completely forgot about.

    Lovecraft Country

Episodes three and four deviated quite substantially from the source material. Ep three ended differently in the book but I think the TV version is better and definitely bigger. (The book version is good but might have had TV watchers saying "that's it?"). Ep four doesn't exist at all in the...

No, not that I recall. James Baldwin was name checked and briefly shown and the incident - around which this episode revolves - of eight missing African Americans was a true event.

Ms. Smollett was also the Black Canary in the recent "Harley Quinn" movie. This chapter deviated more from the original source material than the first two episodes, but the changes are for the better. Also the show writers are weaving a more overarching "Big Bad" than in the book.

Pre-Order The Grey Fox (1982) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

I agree. Films like "The Grey Fox" often had several financiers plus these films were made before the home video market existed and thus no provisions were made for that market. Bureaucracies can handle the expected but throw a new problem at them like VHS and it's like u-turning an oil...

    Lovecraft Country

I've read the novel and it's a collection of novellas each featuring a different character. The first two episodes are based on the novel's first chapter with Atticus as the lead. (So far the adaptation has been pretty faithful with some changes the most significant being the gender swap of...

Gone With the Wind physical copies are now sold out everywhere... (Thanks to HBO Max)

A few years ago while my cousin - who's a lawyer - and I were watching football a commercial popped up featuring a car driving through a "wheat field" and at the bottom of the screen was the disclaimer "do not drive cars through wheat fields." I laughed, called it stupid and asked her why...

    Watchmen (HBO) Season One

I'm not sure if Irons' "Lord of the Manor" is Ozymandias or Manhattan. Some "clues" seem to point to him being Veidt while others seem point to Manhattan. But none are conclusive. On the Manhattan side there's the structure on Mars that resembles Irons' stately country manor. (And is that...

    Watchmen (HBO) Season One

Moore knew about "Architects of Fear" well before he ended the graphic novel. When you read the final issue on one panel there's an image of TV set advertising "The Outer Limits" and the episode featured is "Architects of Fear." Moore lifted the idea. (And BTW, so did Ronald Reagan. He said...

    UHD Review Batman UHD Review

There's a comedic undertow to the film that undercuts the more dramatic scenes and that says "this is just a comic book movie and the stakes aren't real." Contrast that with the "The Dark Knight" and the Joker and every action in that film has consequences, sometimes fatal ones. The stakes are...

    UHD Review Batman UHD Review

We'll never know how audiences would have responded to a darker knight. Maybe they would have accepted that version, maybe not. We do know that Burton had Samm Hamm's original script rewritten and put in line with Burton's sensibilities. (Hamm's script was closer in tone to Miller's graphic...

    UHD Review Batman UHD Review

I half like Burton's Batman: the production design, the lighting, the music, Keaton are great. Nicholson as the Joker: meh. Too Batman '66 for my tastes, especially after reading Miller's take on the character. Also the script didn't present the Joker as the threat he could be, Burton...

Hello. I've read this thread - some great info, btw - and I'm looking to buy the best versions of Leone's "Man with No Name" blu-ray. If I've read everything correctly the RHV version of FOD is the best, followed by the German version. As for FAFDM, again the German version. Is the German...
