“I’m So Excited” was on some earlier VHS releases and has surfaced during some TV airings. Sadly it was not restored for this 4K release however apparently some streaming services have it with this song. Today I was checking the version on VUDU and the version I saw had both the OG Warner logo...
Yeah I’m not fully buying this especially since the unaltered mono was present on the original DVD release. Someone on another site mentioned that the needed materials to restore the mono was lost in the 2008 Universal fire but even that’s not enough to convince me there was nothing they do...
Pretty sure Bob was involved in the restorations of both sequels (not just the 3D Revenge) so if both films were being presented in lower quality that did not faithfully represent their work he would know. Also I don’t recall anyone making complaints about Walks presentation on this ‘corrected’...
The only thing I can name off hand I thought was better in the Spanish Version was Lupita Tovar did a better job of being in a trance when she goes to Dracula in the backyard better than Helen Chandler did. Aside from that yeah I’ll take the Browning film anyday though the Spanish Version works...
The Chaney film is in public domain so likely Universal probably feels they would be losing out on money including a film that basically anyone can use. Since they still own the ‘43 film (which I don’t mind that much tbh in spite of its flaws) and because it was made during the time the other...
Just keep in mind though in the Legacy set Revenge and Walks are on the same disc so they may not get a separate release down the line. The first Creature film however is available as a separate BD. :)
From the responses and from screen grabs posted earlier in the thread, I say they are not. Both Revenge and Walks were remastered in 4K. Walks to my eyes reflects this while Revenge does not in 2D or 3D. Short end there was an authoring mistake with the disc. Bob Furmanek who was one of the men...
In short the disc is not authored correctly. The 2D Revenge is noticeably soft for a 4K restored version and the 3D version is presented in side by side 3D and presented at about half the resolution it should be. In short they are not full 1080p BD quality. No major problems with Creature Walks...
The 3D versions of the first two Creature films are in the Creature Legacy set which is available separately. You don’t need this box set specifically for that release however I would hold off onto updates on whether Universal intends to correct the 3D AND 2D versions of Revenge of the Creature.
I personally like the Creature films open matte since they fit in better with the other monster films. Plus it adds sense to Tom Weaver’s comment about the telephone pole in the background during the commentary on the first film.
Sent a message to Universal last night. Told them no fun and games and that a replacement deal should be in order.
To be honest, I’m not gonna say I’m shocked by this although I admit it hits an all time low. It seems each time these are released there’s always something not quite right.
The...
Sorry to bump this thread but anyways I personally prefer the mono track that was on the 2005 DVD. It was a tad crisper and didn’t have a few of the flaws the current mono has. For example when the engine overheats and explodes the sound of the explosion on the current mono is in the wrong...
Yes ‘43 Phantom was included in the 2012 Essentials Collection. The 8 films in the same collection were given individual releases in 2013. In the US they were given original poster covers, in the UK it was B&W images with red logos. They were then reissued again in the US in 2014 with the cover...
Bob Furmanek, if you’re out there I do have a quick question about the Revenge restoration. In this clip you notice that between 1:10-1:15 there is a brief pause in the music (the MST3K guys even make a comment about it). This pause was also on the VHS release of the film.
For the DVD the...
‘43 Phantom is on BD separately.

I’m actually ok with the current Dracula audio. It’s much better than it sounded on the 2004 and 2006 DVDs. The 1999 DVD has pretty good sound. It sounded closer to my VHS but for some reason is missing the little symphony bit that plays after Dracula says ‘There are far worse things awaiting...
