I was able to attend HTWWW and Lawrence of Arabia. Both were memorable, and thank you so much to Pacific Theatres and to Dave and his team for the presentations.
I laughed a bit before the HTWWW presentation - an audience member was griping very loudly that the print was old. Well of course...
I had to replan a bit, but am now booked to see How the West Was Won and Lawrence of Arabia.
I saw Mad World last year (would love to see it again), but couldn't move the dates early enough to see it or any of the others.
Looking forward to some quality presentations on the big screen!

It would be great if a Wyatt Earp 4K could include the director's cut at least on a blu-ray! I have the laser disc version. :)
I actually have the opposite opinion. The extended cut does answer some questions, but nothing of real importance. I have great admiration for the editor that took the...
This was an excellent presentation. I had planned a vacation in California that included this date, and I rearranged a couple of hotel stays so I could attend. Two friends from Redondo Beach came up to see it as well. Interestingly, one of them lived in Hollywood 54 years ago and saw IAMMMMW at...
It's ironic that two of my favorite film soundtracks are from composers who were brought in at the last minute to replace a rejected score.
One is James Newton Howard for Waterworld (although I love just about any JNH soundtrack), and the other is Patrick Williams for Used Cars. Of course the...
This has the potential to put "Wreckage and Rage: Making Alien 3" to shame.
I'll probably buy this. It took a fine editing job to condense an overlong movie down to the theatrical cut which ends up being a half decent action adventure flick.
Killer soundtrack by James Newton Howard...
I bought three tickets last night for Mad World. Looking forward to it!
Couldn't get three seats in the center in row 8 or further back. There are three in rows 6 and 7, but thinking that might be a bit too close - any thoughts? Currently in row 10 on the aisle......
By an astounding coincidence, I will be on vacation in California (I live in Alabama) when Mad World is showing, and had actually planned to be in the Hollywood area at that time. I will try to rearrange a couple of hotel stays and book tickets tonight. :D
I saw Close Encounters at the Dome...
You are correct. :(
BTW it is worth noting that Barry Gordon had a very long acting career and was the longest serving president of the SAG.

He was even the scuba kid in "The Spirit is Willing".

Somehow that graphic reminds me of my desperate wish for somebody to issue the original Bedazzled  on blu-ray.
Definitely looking forward to The Day After.
Well it is kind of ironic. Christopher Nolan is the master of rapidly moving shots, which often contain rapid zooms. The result can be, how should I put it, dizzying.
2001 is a film with carefully composed shots where everything moves rather slowly and majestically to classical music no less...
Here's a brief blurb from the LA Times on the restoration and upcoming 70mm presentations:

So this thread inspired me to pull out my LoA collector's edition and look it over. I opened up the blu-ray case, and there was an insert for a UV digital copy that I never redeemed. The code expired in 2014 and was to be redeemed through flixster which now is basically defunct.
With nothing to...
This thread inspired me to pull this out and take another look. I remember watching this on network TV many times, and there were jarring color differences between some of the scenes where the ship is approaching the river barrier. There are some shots that seem to be from a high altitude...
