UHD Review Lawrence of Arabia 60th Anniversary Steelbook UHD Review

"They got me to invest in Beta, then VHS, Laser Disc, DVD, Blu-ray and finally Blu-ray 3D. They are NOT getting me to go for 4K, so am skipping the 4K format and save up for 4K/3D that supports my 3D movie collection. Patience with planning (& budgeting)

UHD Review Lawrence of Arabia 60th Anniversary Steelbook UHD Review

I also have that deluxe Blu-ray & it's fantastic! Same restoration, but looks better than the theater re-release in 2015. They got me with Beta, then VHS, Laser Disc, DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D. I am skipping the 4K format and will invest in the next new technology instead.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

Mr Harris, In thinking back to 1973, my family owned a 1964 Emerson Color TV console, that faithfully blew out the color tubes every 2 or 3 years. Back then, color TV repairman had steady work & made a decent living with house calls. So any movie I saw at the theater or drive-in would look...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to detail all this. My opinion of the 4 yellow & 1 red remains unchanged, but I stand corrected on everything else and am happy to retract my "facts". Thank you for the info. Memory can be a dangerous thing. I saw Godfather in '73 at a Sunday matinee at 16 yrs...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

Some of your questions are answered on the 2007 Blu-ray Special Features, under Godfather Restoration. I'd have to watch it again to refresh my memory. Will have to dig up where the source came from when Paramount rushed out additional prints in 1972, to meet public demand; and disregarded...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

I'd be happy to, providing you tell me which fact comes into question? To me, it's been common knowledge since sometime around 1990, so I'll have to do some digging to locate the source; and it won't come from the internet. So again, which info are you referring to?

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

Sorry ... Which "not a single word" did you find untrue? The 2007 Yellow & Red Points being pumped up by 4 & 1? Paramount releasing more prints, that more people saw in its over 2 year run at the theaters, copied from the original color negative without post production tampering? Gordy only...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ -The Godfather(s) 50th Anniversary Restoration -- in 4k UHD

This my be blasphemous, but I've always had a problem with the 2007 Restoration and here is why: Gordon Willis' color manipulation was done in post production. The original negative looks like a beautiful rendition of 3 Strip Technicolor. The skin tones look rich with natural hues that one would...

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ Angels with Dirty Faces – in Blu-ray

Have been waiting years for a Blu-ray release. But bcuz I'm not easy to buy for at Xmas time, it's been designated to one of my kids to put under the🎄tree, otherwise I would have already watched & reviewed it. My favorite Cagney performance and in my Top 10 Faves of the 1930s decade. Gonna be...

    LOTR Remastered Blu-ray

3D was brought up as an explanation (not an apology) of why I refuse to upgrade to 4K. As for 3D not taking off, that was partly bcuz the format was introduced the year following the release of a hi dad format and people were unwilling to plunk down more money so soon after upgrading. As for...

    LOTR Remastered Blu-ray

1 year following the 4K Release, the Remastered Blu-ray, Lord Of The Rings Extended Version (finally) arrives on Nov 16, 2021. This is happy news for those of us who refuse to surrender our Blu-ray 3D format to 4K. For one who grew up on a collection of View Masters, 3D is like putting on an...

Press Release Lionsgate Press Release: Terminator 2: Judgment Day: Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook (4k UHD Combo)

Let's stop with an umpteenth re-Release from the same source already. Giving out crumbs like this will only hurt Blu-Ray's longevity. No One Is Demanding Another T2. Which Classic Westerns would you like to see Remastered to Blu-Ray?

William Wyler's THE WESTERNER (1940) with Gary COOPER .. Walter BRENNAN .. Doris DAVENPORT Such a beautifully shot film (the long shots, the close ups, the vistas & raging fire) With sounds that make one feel that they're in the Authentic West (*the heavy boots walking inside "Judge" Roy...

Paramount: Where's the 'Ordinary People' and 'Dragonslayer' Blu-ray?

Yes, they partnered with Paramount over the theatrical release, so that may very well be part of the delay. Plus, Disney is a conglomerate behemoth now, compared to Paramount Studios.

Paramount: Where's the 'Ordinary People' and 'Dragonslayer' Blu-ray?

You may be referring to Director Robert Redford for Ordinary People.(not Warren Beatty). 😊

Paramount: Where's the 'Ordinary People' and 'Dragonslayer' Blu-ray?

One is a popular Best Picture/Director Winner. The other has been in huge demand for years, from fans & filmmakers alike; and has already had those glaring matte lines minimized. So what gives?

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Star Trek - 4-Movie Collection -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

If memory serves (☺), Paramount pulled the same delay tactic when they released the first STAR TREK films on single disc DVD, but in reverse order beginning with Star Trek 6, then 5 and so on. The warning bells went off & by then, I was a seasoned enough buyer to wait for a better package. When...

    Nick Redman & Twilight's JOURNEY

I'm considering getting a Region Free Player just for Hammer's DRACULA 1958 (Horror Of Dracula). The U.K. has had it for 4 or 5 years. Warner Bros has released most of the sequels and this is widely considered to be Hammer's best. Amazon had TT's JOURNEY for $46.

    Blu-ray Review Moby Dick (1956) Blu-ray Review

I felt a slight trepidation at first over the desaturated look, but I trusted Twilight Time. Wow! The color timed transfer blew my socks off, giving an image unlike any other movie ever. It re-ignited my love for this film I had as a child, but somehow lost its way through growing up. Ironic...

    More Praise for Julie Kirgo

It is much easier to do the written word because you can return over and over to edit, polish and perfect it to your satisfaction. One can only imagine how difficult it is, even if you're prepared with notes, to provide a non-stop conversation of multi tasking of watching a movie (without...

    More Praise for Julie Kirgo

I bro I broke precedence, Thomas, becuz I've owned the DVD for over 10 years and cheated by pumping the monitor color WAY up to replicate the 3 strip transfer of the VHS release. And I wanted to understand why Twilight made the conscience decision to go with what I thought was going to be a...
