Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I was referring to the antiquated term "mongoloid" that Rick mentioned in his post. The term in the episode bothered me as well. That is a comletely different subject than the heinous murder of a newborn, that was the focus of the episode.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I agree, but with this old of a series taking on cotrvesial issues, you have to expect that some of the terminology and language will be dated and inacurate and even the science can be wrong.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

Oh, crud I'm so stupid! I was thinking, "How can I help out?" I run an Old Time Radio Podcast that get's 200,000 downloads a month. Why don't I just review the thing and post a direct link to the DVD's on Amazon? A lot of my listeners are into Old TV series as well.

The Loner: The Complete Series (Collector's Edition) 6/14/16

I had four copies in my hands three weeks ago at a local Walmart. I bought two of them, but should have bought all four. I already gave my extra away, sorry folks.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I've been posting some of the reviews from this thread on different forums and on the Defender's page at the Shout Factory! website.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

Not that it makes any difference, but I have not and will not buy any releases of any of these series. For most of them because of availability through syndication to watch them. I have purchased the following series from Shout Factory! Because they are unavailable in any other format and are...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I agree with most of that. I do think that series that are not available in any way, but have equal or more demand should take presidence. Also any series that has more fans willing to be "activist" in their support of the series should factor that into the decision making model.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

One thing I have not seen mentioned is Crowed Funding The Defenders. I personally would be willing to buy around 5 to 10 copies of The Defenders The Complete Series if offered in a 500 or so limited run for $150 a pop. Give it to us for six months then do an unlimited run in any way they like.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

The big difference in my mind between Ironside and Defenders is that Ironside has been syndicated for years, while Defenders by and large has not been seen since it originally aired.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

As well as Star Trek, Bonanza, pretty much all westerns really, hmmm I can't think of one drama that was an exception, except maybe Perry Mason? Did Perry have comedy episodes? Also, I don't see this as a bad thing necessarily. I kind of like seeing serious actors and shows experiment with...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

9/10 The beginning had me grabbing onto my chair, reflecting on the fact that distracted driving is a hundred times worse today, and how often I'm finding a podcast to listen to while driving. I'm getting better about getting everything set before I leave, so I don't need to touch anything...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

8/10 What a tour-de-force for Frank Gorshin! One of the least realistic stories though. As far as I've read this just doesn't happen in this way, the catalyst wouldn't work. Probably the best writing I've ever seen in television to exploit an actors specific gifts. I wonder how taxing...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I was thinking the same thing, and seeing these shows helps me empathize with Robert Reed's acting frustrations being tied to the Mike Brady character for the rest of his life.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

7/10 Another nice episode, agree with all of your comments. The ending is unrealistic for the series, but nicely done for what it's worth.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

8.5/10 Outstanding episode. Complex characters and relationships. We would never get anything like this today. My only caveat is that I wish some of the characters showed more emotion. Sometimes the characters can come across as cold or aloof or stand offish, and not just on this episode...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

5/10 An interesting episode, but the mock trial in the prison just brings to mind too many similar convenient trial situations on say Gilligan's Island or Star Trek, but this preceded those shows and is probably innocent of guilt other than planting the seed in lesser writer's minds for future...

The Loner: The Complete Series (Collector's Edition) 6/14/16

Just watched pilot episode of The Loner. The quality was superb. I'm delighted that we get the chance to see what Rod Serling could do with a western series. Every character was spot on in that first episode, and the acting was top notch. The flash back transitions were some of the best I've...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

6/10 for me I believe this is the pilot for the series, if you don't count the Defender as the pilot. Not many series surpass their pilot in quality. I think they found a more controversial strategy that served to make future episodes more impactful and better for the audience to wrestle...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I would just skip posts that talk about specific episodes until you've viewed the episode because even if we don't give away the ending, there will still be mild spoilers.

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

8/10 for this one. I have the same concern about rushing through. Maybe I'll try for two or three a week, even though I've jumped through the first two discs already. Maybe one or two each week along with one or two episodes of the recently released The Loner, Rod Serling's great series. If...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

9/10 for me on this first episode! The acting was great especially Klugman. Klugman's acting seemed to get steadily worse as he got older, which is a little weird. Loved his Twilight Zone episodes as well as this one and his work on the various playhouse type programs of the 1950s. The Odd...

Could The Defenders Be Released on DVD?

I Also have been waiting for this release and never thought it would happen. It's so interesting to see Robert Reed as an attack dog when necessary in court, he gets right in peoples faces! He's only gotten punched once, so far. Has anyone else noticed the digital dots on some of the episodes...

The Restless Gun, The Complete Series

I love all three. I'll even go so far as to say I love many, many television westerns, but to me the radio versions of GUNSMOKE, THE SIX SHOOTER, FORT LARAMIE, FRONTIER GENTLEMAN, LUKE SLAUGHTER OF TOMBSTONE, and HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL are the most entertaining western series in any format!

Rod Serling's "The Loner" Western TV Series from 1965

I have contacted Rod Serling's daughter over face book to see if she knows who owns the rights to this series. I would love to see it come have some sort of official Home Video release. It is a wonderful missing piece to Rod Serling's television legacy. Here is a link to my favorite episode...

Rod Serling's "The Loner" Western TV Series from 1965

From Wikipedia The Loner is an American western series that ran for less than one season on CBS from 1965 to 1966, under the alternate sponsorship of Philip Morris and Procter & Gamble. It was one of the last TV series on CBS to air in black-and-white. The series was set in the years immediately...

May not be the best solution, but the whole movie, Fool's Parade, has been posted on youtube, so those of us who have never seen it can at least watch it in some format.

The Restless Gun, The Complete Series

Been watching a lot of the Restless Gun. It debuted on Sept. 23 1957 and ran until Sept. 14 1959. It has a complete series (78 episodes) release on DVD, for about 45 cents an episode it's well worth the price of admission! It's from the same team that brought us Bonanza. Very well done, it...
