Love all those films. A pity the studios don’t realize there is still a dedicated audience for these movies. Heck I wasn’t even born until well after these were made but they are my among my favorite genre.
I’m not much on streaming but I was an early subscriber to Disney+ because I thought the service could finally release all those live action titles from the 50s to 70s without much overhead, I figured they were all in good shape and easily placed on the app, but when the initial films were still...
Yeah I grew up watching Snowball Express and Follow Me Boys. Guess we’ll never see a nice bluray of those. Even Disney+ just had a full screen version of Snowball Express.
Is I Am Cuba any good? I’ve always been interested in the Cuban Revolution and have two other Criterion releases that involve Cuba; Che and Memories of Underdevelopment.
Took a chance and bought a used copy of Big Jim McClain and it totally froze on my Sony and Oppo players around the 40 minute mark. Disc is pristine physically. Bummer. $4 isn’t bad but does anyone know if the dvd on Amazon is a MOD or is it still pressed? Amazon wants $24 for it so it’s not...
I enjoyed this one as a kid, it seemed like it was on TV quite a lot in the early '80s. I picked it up during one of the sales. Pretty light hearted but conveyed the Cold War paranoia effectively. I still love the appearance of the F-101 Voodoos towards the end of the film. One of my favorite...
I have the Kino bluray of Alphaville. It’s a wonderful film. I may have to give Contempt another chance at some point. There has been some compelling reasons to in this thread.
Looking forward to more details of Topkapi. The original bluray needed a lot of work. I remember it was very hard to hear and had lots of physical damage. I’m excited to see that this is a new restoration. The theme and the location shooting are excellent
Seeing this tomorrow, just hope it's better than Skulls. I love 1 and 3 and like 2. I still think there is room not to reboot the series but maybe reboot Young Indiana Jones. Lots of potential there I think. While I loved the TV show I think it would interesting to see Indy where the series left...
“That’s a bingo!”
I’ve been waiting for this one a long time. My original dvd rotted out (believe I posted this on another thread about WB titles no longer working) and received a replacement copy for free on DVD-R from the helpful people at WB. I’m ready for the upgrade!
I was thinking of an older Criterion dvd release last night and was curious if Criterion has the rights to issue a bluray for Hands Over the City? Wonderful film.
Really excited about Hey There it’s Yogi Bear! Didn’t even realize it was on the radar. I have a vague memory of seeing this at the theater in the 80s. Was this re-released to theaters sort of like Disney used to do?
Of course the film itself is more important but it reminds me of picking out Hardy Boys books at the bookstore when I was a kid. If had crummy cover art it turned me off quite a bit.
