The situation is different here:
-4K raw scan and remastering done with film grain by James Cameron's production company Lightstorm Entertainment (Geoff Burdick supervised the restoration).
-Final color grading appoved by colorist Skip Kimball, director James Cameron and director of photography...
Hi,
a few days ago some filmfans started a petition for an ultimate Terminator 2 Blu-ray edition WITHOUT all the errors of the 2017 release (DNR, blue lasercolor in the furure war) and a 4K restoration of the special edition cut scenes.
Please sign and share the petition. With James Cameron's...
The Ultimate Hunter Edition Fox released 2010 was awful, here the review. https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/htf-blu-ray-review-predator-ultimate-hunter-edition.295587/
2008 they made the first Blu-ray with an old scan and bad encoding. It's a shame that Fox doesn't use the...
@Robert Harris, do you know if Lightstorm did the Digital Noise Reductionon directly on their remastering work (before color grading) or way after that only in the 3D convertion?
On "Titanic" they did a perfectly new 4K transfer and then they moved to 3D convertion and made the Digital Noise...
I don't think they added fake grain on "Titanic".
It seems to me, they made a perfect new 4K transfer and then moved to 3D convertion and degrained the film in this process. That makes a lot more sense for preservation, when you have a perfect new transfer with grain intact.
They degrained and...
I don't think so. :-(
This movie deserve a better transfer. The actual transfer is very old and outdated. Colors are dull, contrast is dull, details and sharpness are not very good. I watched this movie partly over christmas in HD on an 75" LED TV.
Look how good an even older film could look...
When you look closely, Paramount only distribuite the film:
Production Companies
Constellation Entertainment (presents) (as Constellation Films)
Douglas/Reuther Productions (as Douglas/Reuther)
Bernina Film
Mont Blanc Entertainment GmbH...
Please help to make a new transfer of "The Ghost and the Darkness".

The cinematogpraphy of Vilmos Zsigmond is masterful, but unfortunately only a very old HD master exits that was used in Germany for two horrible Blu-rays. Maybe this is one of the oldest...
That would be great, but unfortunately Twentieth Century Fox Germany say that the UHD set contains the existing 1080p Blu-ray discs, no remastered discs based on the new 4K transfers.
The argumentation is a slap in the face of every truly movie enthusiast.
They say the Ultimate Hunter Editions...
I dont speak about a 3D convertion of these cuts, I speak about 4K transfers fort these cuts. ;-)
And this is very possible, because Cameron restore booth cuts of Aliens and booth Cuts from The Abyss.
I hope this Anniversary wave get continued this year:
The Mummy Returns 4K remaster
The Frighteners 4K remaster
Dragonheart 4K remaster
Cape Fear 4K remaster
Backdraft 4K remaster
Hi,
this year some movies celebrate their anniversary and maybe the studios use these anniversaryss for better Blu-ray releases.
Universal did some great 4K remasters last year and labeled this as Anniversary Editions.
My wishlist for this year:
15th Anniversary:
The Mummy Returns 4K...
Personally, Im not interesting in 3D, but for the convertion, they must produve a new 4K transfer(like on Titanic and Jurassic Park). The existing old transfer ios not good enough for such a convertion.
I hope, the make the new 4K transfer for all three cuts (on Alien an Aliens or Apocalypse...
Thanks.
I dont like it when studios have new 4K transfers and safe them for a UHD release and dont release normal full HD 4K remastered Blu-rays.
I hope Fox releases normal 4K remastered Blu-rays of Die Hard. Die Hard 2, Predator and Predator 2, next year.
I read somwhere, that Fox did for the UHE a new 4K scan, and make the rest in 2K.
So they can use this scan, and redo the colorgrading without DNR.
My question is, could Fox release remastered Blu-rays of Die Hard 1-3, new 4K masters exists since 2013, next year?
@Rober Harris, very nice to hear, which titles are next on Warners new quality ethic?
Falling Down, Interview with a Vampire, Last Man Standing, Training Day, Amadeus(both Directors Cut and Theatrical Cut), Heat, Batman, The Dark Knight(EE and false color grading), Batman Begins, Gremlins and...
Nice, that they remaster this film, but sory, the cover artwork is aesthetic nightmare.
I hope in Europe they release a nice digibook with the content of the us 24 page booklett and with these poster artwork:

Not bad, I hope Fox make such 4K remastered sets for Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Independence Day, Predator(I read some romors they did a 4K scan) and Predator 2.
No, this time is not the double dip, they release Goldeneye on Blu-ray:
-as a part from the 50 years of Jamed Bond collection
-as a single amaray
-as a play.com Steelbook
-as part of the complete 50 years of James Bond collection(with Skyfall)
-as part from some Pierce Brosnan Collections...
I read, that the DVD Ultimate Edition was an old scan that was precessed by Lowry Digital. They cropped this.
MGM decide to use for the Blu-ray a different transfer, sadly it was an old DVD transfer, not a new 4K transfer like on The Spy who loved me.
Bond 25 is too far away, maybe 2018.
I dont want to wait sooo long.
The start of Spectre in cinemas is enough time for MGM to make a new disc. Maybe they could make a Goldeneye remastered edition for the BD release of Spectre.
Its a shame that MGM dont use this opputunity and maybe they...
