Delighted to hear the news about the I, The Jury restoration - and many, many thanks to Biff Elliot's widow, Connie, for providing the restoration funds. What a beautiful tribute.
This is the widescreen version on ebay:

It's the one we used for the screen grabs in this nice article on my website that horror writer Stephen Laws wrote for me.

This aspect ratio controversy regarding Fall of the Roman Empire is curious. I had read, many years ago, that although it had been shot in Ultra Panavision - the 2.76 aspect ratio - all the release prints were struck at 2.20:1. I believe a similar thing had happened with Ben-Hur, some years...
The images from the restored Sodom and Gomorrah release do look encouraging, and I was particularly pleased to see mention of an English language track.
Yeah - would have to agree; Stewart Granger, Stanley Baker and Pier Angeli had such distinctive voices that it would be quite disconcerting listening to dubbed voices issuing from their mouths.
Still, the new transfer looks impressive from this trailer - fingers crossed for an English track!
Seems like The Long Ships has been on my upgrade-from-DVD list forever. Always thought that Twilight Time might have released a blu ray, but sadly not. I generally steer clear of the French releases because of the forced subs.
Will most likely take a chance on a German release, though, as...
In the UK, Hercules Unchained went out on the ABC circuit - double billed with The Bugs Bunny Show - at least in the North of England where I live - and was certainly in colour and 'Scope.
Ordered four titles that had been on my buy list for some time: Admirable Crichton, Peyton Place, Ten North Frederick and Sword of Sherwood Forest. I'll probably try and pick up a couple more before the sale ends.
I've been with TT since the beginning, but I can't help feeling like a vulture...
I think 3D fans have been well and truly shafted. I don't believe 3D was dying, I think it was the victim of attempted murder - to make way for 4K. I can't think of any time that a format was abandoned without being replaced with something that essentially did the same thing, e.g. VHS by DVD...
Just ordered three titles to start with: Hajji Baba, Black Widow (1954) and True Story Of Jesse James. Hopefully will pick up a couple more before the sale ends.
I know I'm a bit behind the curve on this one, but I finally received my copy of Jivaro 3D - and what a fantastic restoration job! Beautiful, clear, sharp images - wonderful colour and superb 3D - and totally ghost-free on our active living room TV. This is certainly one of the best I've seen...
Very impressed with the 3D on this clip - a remarkable restoration job indeed. Really looking forward to seeing the final result of this worthwhile project!
I'm afraid I'm with the "nothing for me, this time" guys. I have my sights on Admirable Crichton, The River's Edge and Black Widow, when the budget permits. Just finished watching Major Dundee and The Best Of Everything from the last sale, both of which were extremely good buys.
Sorry, should have mentioned It's region B locked. No overture, entr'acte or exit music and, yes, it sounds much better than the DVD, which I already have.
Last week I checked out what was available at Amazon France, and found that the 1961 Barabbas Blu ray was reduced to just over 9 Euros, so, for that price, I thought I'd give it a go. I'm aware of the lukewarm comments that have been made previously, but I have to say I was pleasantly...
My screen was a wall painted matt white - used it like that for over two years until I managed to get hold of a HD/3D screen, but you know it didn't make a whole lot of difference.
I was always a fan of The Bubble, and was very impressed with the first restoration, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I'm not a techie, but I thought that Bernier's Spacevision was one of the better 3D systems devised, so it seems strange that it was used on so few 3D productions -...
It's a fair point, too. The same thing happens with Kino Lorber every time I've pre-ordered one of their 3D titles - the price will drop dramatically in one of their sales very soon after it's released. Puts you off pre-ordering from boutique labels - especially as they charge your card on...
