OT: I was lucky enough to see Angela Lansbury on stage last year, and believe me, she's still got it. Presence, star power, call it what you will. Maybe just call it acting talent. And she's certainly still got a spring in her step when she wants one.

The Wisconsin Film Festival is promising to screen an "original" print of Vertigo next month. http://2014.wifilmfest.org/ I seriously thought about flying from Australia to see it until I decided that $5000 for one movie was too pricey a ticket. (And I might still have done it if I hadn't had...

From memory, Mr Harris has said that, given the green light (no pun intended here of all places), with present day technology he could make Vertigo look *better* than it did in 1958. I'd settle for "as good as".

As promised, here is my report on VERTIGO in 70mm as screened last night/this morning in Melbourne, Australia. We were told to turn our phones off at 10.05 pm, so I can't state exactly when the movie started. Obviously it was about a minute or two after that; so around 10.06 or 10.07. By my...

I'll be seeing VERTIGO in 70 mm next Saturday night here in Melbourne, Australia. As promised, I'll have my stopwatch and will report in due course.

Just for the record, what was that supposed to mean?

courtesy of the indefatigable Greg Philip, here's something that all Vertigo fans are sure to find of interest: a version of the movie that has the sequoia tree cross-section labelled in French it leaves me wondering, though: if there was a separate French version, what other language...

I hope to see the 1996 70mm restoration myself some day in a cinema - I'll be taking my stopwatch in, by the way - and I don't see why Universal can't occasionally strike a new print of it, especially given the fact (noted already above) that it was intended to last 200 years.

For the record, which fade seemed off? EDIT: thanks, Aston, we crossed in the mail, so to speak: you answered my question while I was still asking it.

Sorry to hear the screening was a let-down for you, Aston. But your report on the fades leaves me feeling vindicated and I couldn't be happier. It would seem that Mr Harris should be angry at what the home-video releases have done to his restoration work. I look forward to your full report...

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Vertigo -- in Blu-ray

Very few actresses manage to have lifelong careers; there's a saying in the English theatre that "there's nothing between Juliet and her nurse" - meaning women get to play a pretty girl or an old lady, and that's it. In other words, there are no parts for middle-aged women. There are exceptions...

Half your luck! I'm starting to think that I am going to have to come to the States the next time an IB print is screened to get my own Vertigo questions answered once and for all. In the meantime it's probably asking too much of you to try and answer them for me. But I'll ask anyway: did the...

Mr Harris, you have given me a lot to think about here. If I’m reading you right, you’re saying amongst other things that your restoration recreated all (or at least some) of the dissolves. I wouldn’t have guessed that was still possible, ie that the elements were still available. Is that...
