More good news for that poor mountaineer and the Clampett clan!

That one is available uncut on the Columbia House VHS set, so it's not a huge biggie. I noticed when watching it the other evening that one has the 90's Viacom syndication, so I started watching closely and that was the only one I noticed. I'm glad to see confirmation that nothing else is uncut...

    Favorite Christmas Episodes

I noticed Foster in a cameo at the tail end of a S9 episode of The Beverly Hillbillies playing your average "man on the street" who was playing straight to the zaniness surrounding the bank.

More good news for that poor mountaineer and the Clampett clan!

Actually it was Shorty. Drysdale thought he was worth $200 million and decided to throw him a "wild Hollywood party" which included the slave auction. You may be thinking of "Simon Legree Drysdale" where the woman's brothers think Drysdale is using her as a slave. Shorty wasn't in that one...

More good news for that poor mountaineer and the Clampett clan!

The story is ONE viewer took objection to the slave girl auction scene in the bank and complained on their Facebook page. Quite a few of us went to bat for the episode saying it in no way promoted slavery and was in no way offensive, yet they ignored those with the differing opinion and said...

More good news for that poor mountaineer and the Clampett clan!

Yeah, I'm still alive, I have hit a snag on collecting for a bit plus there hasn't been any movement on my holy grail and I've been concentrating a lot on my hobby of music. I had posted earlier this year that PlutoTV was showing some of the unreleased seasons of The Beverly Hillbillies...

    Your Favorite TV Themes/Songs

Everyone knows my favorite show, so it's no big secret it would be my favorite theme song. I decided to do the honor of a short pick and grin of it on the guitar:

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I really need to watch the series. Our local radio station used the Merle Haggard song as a snippet for a commercial long before I knew there was a TV series. I remember Claude from B.J. and The Bear and The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, so seeing him in a role where he isn't a comedian or...

Rare shows uncut on streaming services

It's actually S6, first airing on Jan. 31, 1968, episode 23 of that season. It's Jerry Randall, a man, portraying The Boston Strong Girl, and a woman's voice is dubbed in like they did with Jethrine. I *think* they have Linda Henning doing the speaking, but I'm not sure. IMDB doesn't have a...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

And one of the most memorable lines in the series from Granny: "that boy don't know what sex he's opposite of!"

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

I don't have a clue what Pluto is doing. I've been noticing skipped episodes as they go through the run. Still no S8 or S9; I can live with that if I have to. What is odd is that every episode with Flatt and Scruggs is being skipped as are the ones with Cousin Roy. I would almost say it's...

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

So I decided to do a little checking since I have the Columbia House tapes and see what episodes I currently have unedited besides the obvious DVD releases. I didn't realize I had this much! S04 E32 "Jethro Goes to College." Yes, that is on the DVD release, but they've snipped out some of the...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I remember an interview or a quote from Norman Fell in which he talked about the clause in his contract to be able to come back to the parent show. He said that he thought the only reason it got the extra half season was so that they wouldn't have to bring them back. Again, I don't deny it...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I took a break from The Beverly Hillbillies and watched The Ropers and Three's A Crowd on PlutoTV. I vaguely remember The Ropers from when I watched it as a kid. Solid comedy that should have went longer. Having the neighbors to play off of was hilarious; Jeffrey P. Brookes III hurt his back...

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

I'm already decorated. If they took an x-ray of my head it would show a Christmas tree where my brain should be! I'm going to consider having these available to watch as my Christmas and birthday both. A fun fact: I share the same birthday as Max Baer, Jr., December 4th! It's also the birthday...

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

That is correct, fellas! Funny thing is that is my "go to" episode when I start decorating for Christmas. I started that a few years ago; it had been the Hooterville Christmas episode before that. I'm happier than a pig in a mud waller right now!

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

At least with those episodes you can get them unedited, albeit on the Columbia House VHS tapes. The picture quality isn't terrible and they do run at SP speed. As a fan of older country, most of Roy's material is so old that (I think) it's in the public domain except for "The Great Pretender." I...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

When I was a kid I never would have imagined a thing called the "Internet" that would have a channel dedicated to nothing but my favorite show 24/7 and that it would be in crystal clear quality, better than what it looked on night of broadcast!

Broadband Internet in Rural America (or a Lack Thereof)

When I canceled my service with BPS, the lady asked me why. I explained that I knew she simply worked there, and to not take it personal what I was going to say. I told her that the service stunk and explained the points I made here. She said she was getting that a lot since Pemiscot Dunklin...

Broadband Internet in Rural America (or a Lack Thereof)

We were stuck with a rinky-dink Mickey Mouse outfit called "BPS Networks" for years out here. We were paying almost $100/mth for 10mbps download/.5 mbps upload. They made you have a home phone at one point in order to get their crappy service. We were stuck with them. Completely unreliable...

Letter to ViacomCBS About Old Short-Lived Shows

Just like you told us that seeing Ozzie and Harriett was a pipe dream and that Sam Nelson had pocketed money? ^_^

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

I'm going to give this one last bump to update a couple of things. I won't bump it again unless something new happens such as more episodes added. I'm seeing a LOT of episodes skipped. I don't know if one season is worse than another, but as far back as S1 they're skipping. They seem to be...

What series do you want so badly you would be willing to pay a premium price?

I think my list would be pretty short since I'm more of a music guy. There are some especially rare recordings of Hank Williams, Sr. that I'd love to see cleaned up for an official release such as his recordings for WSFA as a teenager. Anyway, we're here to talk TV. PlutoTV is now streaming my...

Rare shows uncut on streaming services

I'm going to quote myself again (I did it in The Rockford Files thread earlier). They're not showing S8 or S9, at least not yet. I just watched a handful of S4 episodes and the quality seems to be better than the DVD's. Obviously hi-def masters were made for the shows, and I'm guessing that...

    Rockford Files

I'm going to quote myself! I started binging the series again over the weekend. It's on the Roku channel and the episodes are so sharp and crisp. Universal really did a great job on it. Anyway, to my point, my son came by the house after church Sunday and the first thing he said is "you're...

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

I did notice that what I saw of S7 looked excellent, almost as good as the DVD releases of prior seasons. S6 was a little soft on a few episodes at least. Even those looked better than the ones that have been syndicated on tape for the last 35 or so years. I certainly hope there will be more on...

Both of those were in season 6. Herbie was the gorilla. Fairchild was the bear, and I'm not sure if they featured him or not in season 6. He figured prominently in season 7, including getting Drysdale arrested on the way to Hooterville!

No S8 or S9, at least not as of yet. They ended with the Pat Boone episode and went back to the 1st season.

Rare shows uncut on streaming services

Not in the same category, but PlutoTV is running S6 and S7, at least parts, of The Beverly Hillbillies unedited/uncut. Considering the last time I saw them uncut on TV was the late 80's, it's certainly more rare than some of its counterparts. Some episodes are HD, some aren't.

There may be hope yet for the Clampetts!

I discovered last night that PlutoTV is streaming unedited episodes of S6 and S7. I'm suspecting they may show S8 and S9. The episodes look good, although not all of them look as sharp as the DVD releases of prior seasons. I haven't seen some of these in their unedited form since the late 80's...
