That’s excellent news! From what little I’ve seen about out this series, I’m looking forward to this interesting obscurity.
And yes, these days just the announcement about a future announcement is cause for celebration. Such is the state of physical media today, especially for TV fans. But...
I don’t remember any hip hop and rap in GWTW, so I suppose a disclaimer about it would be useless. Then again, I only saw the film once. Perhaps the rap and hip hop was in a special director’s cut that I missed. Personally, the only version of it that I care to rewatch is the one that features...
I agree that I wish parts of the film weren’t recycled bits from the series, but I think there’s still enough that’s new to keep it interesting. It’s also the last chance to see Mr. Grainger, as Arthur Brough died between the movie and the beginning of the next season. Not as funny as the...
Thanks for the heads up, Randall. What a nice surprise! I caught this a few times back when MeTV (I think) was airing it on Saturday mornings for awhile. I enjoyed it but certainly never expected any kind of complete, non-Alpha release. I look forward to purchasing this.
Of those three, Angel is the one I’m most interested in. Aside from wanting to see the release of another rare (and new to me) sitcom, this one has an episode with guest star James Garner. Always a plus. Even if his appearance doesn’t fall within Volume 1, I’m in for all volumes.
Very pleased with this latest sale. I placed the below order late Friday afternoon and by that night received an email that it was already approved for packing. I narrowed my order down to these Blus (including one newly released that wasn’t part of the sale but I which I wanted now):
Order...
VEI is releasing the Don Adams sitcom Check It Out!

While not the funniest show ever, I remember enjoying this Canadian series as a kid when it aired in the US in the 80s in weekend syndication. I’d hoped it would someday get released but at this point never expected it to.
It’s been awhile since I watched the previously released sets, but as I recall only the Season 1 set’s shows were edited. The Season 2 set was an improvement with both unedited episodes and extras. I doubt the VEI set will include any extras, so even if this new set (hopefully) includes unedited...
Here’s a surprise. VEI is putting out a complete series set of the long-stalled Too Close for Comfort.

I’m curious if the first season shows will be complete since the original Season 1 set had edited episodes. I also wonder if the final season’s opening credits will include the new...
I’ve just placed my order from the current sale:
A Day at the Races
The Long, Long Trailer
Tarzan, the Ape Man
Tarzan’s Greatest Adventure
Straight Time
The Carey Treatment
A Midwinter’s Tale
Judgment Night
As usual, this was exercise in restraint. I hope eventually we’ll see all of the...
Thank you, Jeff!
I agree with you about Newman and Howard. They had good chemistry. I always enjoyed Howard on Dallas and it was fun to see her here. However, I also like Diana Muldaur, so I will be interested to see her performance as Mrs. Petrocelli in the film.
While The Lawyer, the 1970 film that led to this series, was not included on the DVD set, I just noticed that it looks like Kino plans to release it on May 14.
The Lawyer
I enjoyed watching the show on VEI’s series set, so I look forward to finally getting to see the original film on Blu.
Thank you all so much for the welcome back and kind comments. Truly means a lot.
Mike - This is definitely a learning process and exercise in patience, pushing myself to get better while also picking up on those signs not to overdo things. But so far so good. Appreciate the advice!
Randall -...
Been awhile since I last posted. I had a stroke back in August. Talk about having your world turned upside down. But I’ve been back at home since November, getting stronger every day, and last month I finally started working again (half days). And while I hadn’t really felt like posting (or felt...
No thanks. Kino has a good track record for releasing things I either want or am willing to try. Leaving it up to the results of a message board popularity contest, I think I’ll end up with far less. Better to let them handle their business. Why mess with something that works?
Thank you for also releasing this separate Blu for the film and not just the 4KUHD/BR combo.
I never did get around to purchasing the old Olive BR, so I look forward to this.
While I’d definitely like to see complete releases of MRFD and Private Secretary (along with The Ann Sothern Show), my most wanted 50s sitcom is Burns & Allen. I would hope that this imagined complete series set would also include the one season after Gracie retired and it was renamed The George...
I would love a Blu upgrade of ITHOTN, especially if it meant the inclusion of all the episodes TGG Direct left out. What they released was better than nothing, but I think it deserves even better.
I posted the above in 2018. Love Thy Neighbor should still be added as to my knowledge it never did get a release.
Nice that Ozzie & Harriet is now off the list and on the way to becoming entirely available. Unfortunately, the list is still too long and I don’t think that will change.
Looks like another great noir set. I’m especially looking forward to Black Tuesday. I’ve never seen it, but since it features Peter Graves and Milburn Stone I know I will enjoy it.
I hadn’t looked at HLN (a.k.a. The Forensic Files Channel) in years, and was surprised while channel surfing during last Thanksgiving weekend to see them running a marathon of The West Wing. They did it again at the end of the year for about a week. On one Sunday earlier this year - maybe Easter...
You’re thinking of TNN. It was The Nashville Network for years. In 2000 it was changed to The National Network (sometimes referred to as The New TNN). Then in 2003 it became Spike TV.
