Many thanks. From all what RAH wrote, I also assume the blurring will be there. As such issues are done in the post-production, there would have been a chance that it was absent from the original negative or the fine grain but only present in the release prints. But as there's no negative and no...
I asked Leo the Lion to roar and Leo did and indeed somebody heard it. A nice gentleman sent me a very old BBC 2 tape recording derived from a transmission at an Halloween eve in the 80s. Unfortunately this is one of the worst recordings I've ever seen: it has been converted from PAL to...
On Nitrateville, two people have reported that they have seen the longer version both on American TV
"Oddly, this 'longer version' was shown on American television back in 1956... I saw it several times as a child and remembered the now-missing sequences. Evidently, it was re-edited and...
Due to the AFI, the correct original US release length in 24 fps was 127'27 (see above). A running time of 112'51 is of completely uncertain origin and no contemporary US censorship records for such a length are detectable. The film was most probably shortened throughout the years, possibly for...
blu-ray.com review available now, no word about the missing footage and censorship issues:

Thanks for giving us the running time.
Before releasing this butchery on Blu-Ray, they shouldn't have released it at all and given another movie the Blu-Ray treatment instead.
You see what happens: George Feltenstein is absent for only half a year - and just everything breaks down :(
I don't know why Warner only distributed this truncated version for so many years and which kinds of footage of the film Warner has in its archives. But the uncut version at least has always been residing at the BFI, which provides its holdings transparently in its database:
35mm Dupe Negative...
Nowhere a word about the cuts and what's the Blu-Ray version is going to be. The AFI catalogue provides some intresting information:
According to information in the file on the film in the MPAA/PCA Collection at the AMPAS Library, when the first script was submitted to the Hays Office on 11 Nov...
Will the Blu-Ray have the full uncut version restored? Different / longer versions have been shown on British and German TV which include scenes which are absent from all of Warners DVD releases so far...
Indeed its seems plausible that the show had 170 mins at its initial run and was only later released in extended form. Possibly the film was simply shortened short before the transmission to cram-in more commercials.
For the aspect ratio, me too would indeed have been sure the widscreen...
I wonder if with the arrival of the new Renée Zellweger Judy Garland biopic in theatres there are any chances for a proper re-release on Blu-Ray or DVD of the stunning 2001 Garland biopic "Life With Judy Garland: Me And My Shadows" with Judy Davis and Tammy Blanchard from the Miramax catalog in...
Very interesting thread. Now here I'd like to give you a true brainteaser and an example how matting can totally change character, style and effect of a movie. Peter Medaks THE CHANGELING (CAN 1980) is well known as one of the most chilling haunted house movies ever. It was shot in academy ratio...

Thank you very much for all your warm welcome.
I know “censorship” always sounds harsh, but in fact here I would consider it unlikely that the scenes are lost just by accident or print damage. Although the footage is “harmless”, it’s quite conspicuous that just five different moments in...
Until today, Anthony Manns „The Glenn Miller Story“ remains much beloved as one of James Stewarts finest films and is well-remembered by Swing music fans all around the world. The more surprising it is, that nobody seems to be aware that the movie is only available in a truncated version...
