A Few Words About A few words about...™ Funny Girl -- in Blu-ray

Robert - I'm not sure you indicated ... but what was the source material for this 4K scan? ONeg? I ask because I just watched about half of it and, to my eye, it almost looks like it was a scan of a very good condition IB print.

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

A jump cut involves cutting together two shots (a negative matcher would call them "scenes") of the same action. The match blowout is not even remotely close to being a jump cut. A jump cut is usually something of an anomaly ... something editors find themselves trapped with and have to work...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

I guess this is just a matter of semantics ... but, by my memory, there are no "jump cuts" in LoA. What you've described (match blowout) is a cut, not a jump cut.

Thanks Moe. It's not a handshake problem. See my post #3315.

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

Understood. BTW, as some have expressed here, the track is just fine. In the next several weeks throughout the world of HT, there will be numerous "Meets". People with theaters that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, as well as those of us who've spent only dozens of thousands, will host...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

The 1st chapter of the second act (the chapter "mark") is at 2:19:29. But the Entr'Acte starts at 2:19:24. To cue a player for the 2nd act, one should pause it at 2:19:23. I'm trying to be helpful here ... not complaining. This release is wonderful. First Ben-Hur ... and now this (starting to...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

Don't think so. I am running HDMI to a DVDO Edge for the picture ... but my sound is analog out to analog inputs in a receiver. And whenever handshake delay results in lost sound (I have seen that occur), what you get is "lost sound". This sound is not lost. It's just happening prior to the...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

Been looking at the UK product for about 24 hrs. now. It's fabulous. One small glitch I did notice ... the chapter mark after the intermission is after the first measure of music of the Entr'Acte. You'd think it would be just before the music starts ... but it's not. You hear that initial...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

I was there for Ben-Hur last year. The acoustics in that theater are also an issue ... just not very good. I'm talking about the Alice Tully theater.

I'm stunned by how spot on this post is. Except for my not being a journalist, it describes my history precisely. Wonderful Josh!

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

Thanks for the welcome. I'll definitely get to the introduction page at some point soon. This seems like old home week ... I remember at AVS posting to Amir when he had an upcoming meeting with some folks at Warner Brothers in '06 ... I said please ask them to get Ben Hur on the street by...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

Just created an account here. What a fascinating thread. Found it at AVS where I've hung out for years. Q ... has there been any info on a date for a theatrical run or the BD?
