Hi all. Old thread I know. I just bought 2 new Fire TV 4K sticks to upgrade from a first generation and a second generation.
Couldn't be happier. The 4K is a rocket. I subscribe to Amazon Prime, Starz and Britbox. All run beautifully.
Hi all. I'm watching Spartacus as I try to compose this post on my point phone (tablet needs a new battery). I'm watching my HD-DVD copy. May not be perfect but it still looks pretty darn good.
Hi all. While IAWL may not be what we'd all like it to be, I'm thankful that it is on BD, and overall, looks great to my eyes.
My set is only a 46", so I don't see some of the negatives that would be evident on, say, an 8 or 10 foot projector setup.
I'm 67, so I grew up watching these wonderful...
I saw this at a theater in Connecticut in 1965. I was 16. Seems like only yesterday.
One of the funniest scenes for me was when Marvin's character fell off the wagon. Marvin was back in his
raggidy clothes, on his horse and slumped down in the saddle. Somehow they managed to get the horse to...
There is a God!!!
Casablanca, Key Largo and To Have And Have Not are my top three favorite films with Mr. Bogart, and they're in my top ten of favorites no matter who's in it. To read your review that it's top notch has made my day!
Thanks Robert.
Hi again all. Thought I'd update my results with the stick . I've had it since the Nov. 26th.
As I posted previously, I'm very pleased with this gadget. Along with Amazon Prime for movies, tv, and music, I also use(d) it for Netflix (30 day trial just expired a few days ago). I sideloaded ES...
Hi all. I'm watching The Abyss right now as I post this from my tablet. It's on Cinemax.
PQ is VERY nice. So, given that we can see this on a movie channel like Cinemax, and, again, PQ is, to my eyes, excellent, why can't we at the very least get a decent DVD?
I picked up the Fire TV stick last week at Best Buy for $25. I bought it primarily for Amazon Prime. So far, I'm very pleased with it.Prime streaming works perfectly, no buffering.I've also installed the apps for Prime music, Netflix and Crackle. I have it connected to my receiver (Yamaha)...
BS Player for movies stored on my PC.

Showtime Anytime for watching Showtime (via DirecTV).
The DirecTV app.
Jump Desktop. Lets me actually run my PC from my tablet, not just access files.
My Movies Pro for Android. A cataloging app for DVDs.

Back in, I think, the late 50's, there was a movie show called "Million Dollar Movie".
It was on WOR in N.Y., channel 9. They would show the same film for a week. Twice a day on weekdays, 3 or 4 times a day on weekends.
That was when I first saw Yankee Doodle Dandy.
My whole family loved it, and...
The only title I have is Charade, which we watched about a month ago; it played fine.
I'll have to take a look at it to see if it has any bronzing.
I only have 5 Criterion titles, which are all recent except for Charade.

It's TV show night to start.
First up is Hawaii 5-0
Then, Bluebloods
Then, after the news, Jimmy Fallon (my wife likes him, so I watch with her).
After that, who knows.
You have me curious now, Ken. I've had the DVD for a while now, but haven't as yet watched it. Too late to do it now (1:30am), but will tomorrow. Label says stereo and mono tracks on the disc.
I was about 9 or 10 when I first saw this one (65 now). Grabbed a hold of me and hasn't let go. I'm a big fan of William Powell, and I'd love to add this BD to my collection. But I'm kind of leary about doing so based on Robert's review. I'm getting a bit tired of buying BD's of films that have...
