I see they sell cheap 1 in 2 out HDMI splitters on Ebay but I have not tried them. Some are powered and some are not. I would like to get a 1 in 3 out but have not seen any.

I to am having a similar problem. Looking in the manual for KDL-40V2500 it says the DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) is only available for digital channels. I think this means the sound is only passed from the TV tuner to the optical output and not from the HDMI inputs to the optical out.
