Both companies have huge debt problems. I'm not sure how shareholders for either company benefit from a merger.
IMO, they both should follow Paramount's strategy. Of all the major studios, they have the least debt, and are doing a better job of balancing their theatrical, home video, broadcast...
1) Are there any plans to bring WB's massive vintage 3-D film library to 3D Blu-Ray?
2) Are there any future plans for Hanna Barbera TV cartoons on blu-ray?
3) Apparently some members of the Fleischer family are trying to restore the 1940's Fleischer Superman theatrical cartoons. Will WB or WAC...
1tb is enough space to hold an entire 1080p film in a lossless compression format. UHD lossless may even work if the film is 2 hours or less and color format is yv12 instead of rgb. The best lossless codec is FFV1 which reduces uncompressed video to 1/3 filesize. But IIRC it requires quite a bit...
The same thing happened with HDTV. My local sports teams didn't air HD broadcasts regularly until 2008. A full 10 years after the standard was introduced.
Thankfully, Universal did scan and digitally preserve The Glass Web (1953) on their own. It's available on DCP for 3-D equipped commercial theaters since the music rights don't interfere with theatrical distribution.
If you search for it on the www.klstudioclassics.com site, you won't find it. Searching for the title on www.kinolorber.com will turn up a positive result.
Bingo.
X-Files had to be meticulously restored from various film elements, and even then they still had to use NTSC Broadcast tape sources to fill in missing gaps.
We have only have $1500 more to go to reach the $30,000 stretch goal. If we reach it by 12:00 PM PDT tomorrow there will be a bonus gift included with each Kickstarter blu-ray.
A new stretch goal has been announced. If the campaign reaches $30,000, the 3-D Film Archive will restore a British 3-D short film by Raymond Spottiswoode that was shown at the 1951 Festival of Britain. We're $3100 away from that goal with 9 days left.
The IndieGoGo campaign for the 3-D Blu-Ray of Prototype is 95% complete with only 40+ hours to go. The campaign only needs 10 more backers to reach it's goal.

WAC tends to give these excuses. While they sound reasonable on the surface, a cynic like myself can point to the some of the inferior RKO blu-ray titles released in the Japan and how much of coincidence it is that WAC or their friends at Criterion/Shout Factory are releasing these same titles...
I watched Jivaro last night. The 3-D is outstanding. Everything from carefully crafted matte shots to the typical gimmick shots of arrows, boulders, shrunken heads, and other objects being thrown at the screen were crafted to show off 3-D. My favorite sequence was when the rope bridge breaks and...
There's a chance of a Region B 3-D Blu-Ray release since the music rights aren't an issue in Europe.
The trick is finding a Region B publisher who is willing to release it.
