yes likely starting with the spl meter. I did mine and was amazed by the before and after.,.. also I could use the spl to "tune" the surround to work better at different seating position then just in the middle of the room.... I find a lot of ppl don't like this arrangement and prefer sitting...
If someone where to buy an SPL meter and possibly a tv calibration, what are the chances of someone making a go of it as in a part time income? we don't have "Pro's" around here that I know of being from a small town/city.
any thoughts?
would likely charge around 50 dollars as big city pro's...
these are going for 199 http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en/products/take-classic-5-pack-overview/ you should be able to find a sub for around 150 dollars.
go for an inexpensive yamaha 5.1 receiver
good luck

I would buy these. they are small, but have big sound. I think they are around 5-600 dollars. http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en/products/take-classic-5-1-overview/ review: http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/satellite/energy-take-classic-review I would go with a yamaha reciever...
Does anyone know where I can download some pure test tones? If so is there any that you can control the output to one speaker at a time instead of more then one?
thanks
cheers
randy
I agree with Jim
this is the one I have... works great! www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp
you need to set it on "C"weighting.
also, you didn't say if the center speaker is the same model as the others. if it isn't, the sound output for that speaker maybe lower then the others. this is...
In my Yamaha, I have to put the Wii in the front jacks (aux) that is the only way it will work
as far as surround goes, lots of Wii games are encoded for Dolby pro-Logic2 and they sound amazing

I think the Energy take 5 classics would be a brilliant choice. rave reviews, but bang for the buck (around 900 canadian dollars for the set)
good luck

I have a radio shack meter and yes it was on C weight, fast response. the tones were coming from the yamaha test tones {internal reciever)
frank
yes I did change the physical db according to having all speakers (except sub as I like it 15db higher) the same test tone db output.

I have...
as far as I know, the better cables have more wires per diameter. they are also "oxygen free" I think if you got a good diameter cable with tiny wires wrapped around each other the maker or the price shouldn't make a difference.
when I went to bigger wire the only real difference I could hear is...
I have a yamaha rxv363 reciever and the center channel is 10db lower. I have the surround etc at min level (-5db) and center at full (+5db) when I measure with an SPL meter the center is still 4-5db lower. any thoughts appreciated thanks randy
