For those into Region 4 releases, the Madman website is celebrating Alfred Hitchcock's birthday with a 4 day sale across the entire Hitchcock TV DVD range, from Alfred Hitchcock Presents to The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.
Region 4 for these as that's the contractual requirement.
We did try to look at additional music clearance possibilities, but in addition to high costs vs sales forecast, there were issues in obtaining the undoctored masters.
Our greatest hopes were to clear the Tony Bennett tracks, but...
With the recent discussion about Stephanie Zimbalist MIA from the Season 1 U.S. cover, thought I'd share the artwork for the forthcoming September Australian releases of the series. Ms. Zimbalist has been happily reinstated!
Thrilled to finally share news that Madman Entertainment will release both Season 1 and 2 of The Ghost & Mrs. Muir on Region 4 DVD (Australia/New Zealand) on April 16th, 2014. It's a been a long time coming...
Madman are releasing on August 15th on DVD - rep masters went off last week. Sadly the Region 4 market isn't large enough to make a blu ray edition cost-effective, so hearing of the aspect issue on the US release is a real disappointment.
Madman Entertainment is thrilled to announce the continuing releases of the classic mystery/suspense series ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS, with the worldwide DVD debut of Season Five. This 5 disc set includes all 38 episodes, with guest appearances from Steve McQueen, William Shatner, Walter...
In the case of Rawhide, Madman handles only sales and distribution on this one, ie, we don't own the license like other series we do, so therefore we did not produce the DVDs. Not sure what the issue may have been - perhaps a clearance problem. Cheers
Hi everyone, I can confirm Madman Entertainment have Australian/NZ rights for Season 5 and beyond. Season 5 is slated for first half of 2011, just getting things together now. Whilst we'd love to do one giant box of it all, unfortunately the market here can't sustain the high retail...
Can confirm the Australian release uses the original Bernstein theme on Too Many Suspects Opening titles. But, the alternate version using Mancini's Mystery Movie Theme (with "Tonight Ellery Queen" voice over) is also included as a separate bonus extra.
Thanks Jack! That's so helpful. That voice is so familiar - apart from Odd Couple and Invaders, also recognise him from 1980s Super Friends cartoons. Cheers
Hi mystery fans... Maybe someone on the forum could help solve the mystery of who provided the voice-over at the start of each of the Ellery Queen episodes? It sounds a bit like Billy Bletcher but can't find any confirmation in any of my history of the series, nor in reference material...
I can confirm Madman Entertainment has been prepping a Region 4 release for a while - we're looking at a November release date at present, but it may slip to 2011 if there's a delay with some elements.
Madman Entertainment is thrilled to announce the world premiere DVD release of the classic and much sought after Universal television series DARKROOM. In the tradition of Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery came this much celebrated cult series hosted by screen legend James...
From Australia. Ellery Queen is one of my all time favourites, hence the desire to get it out and do the best we can. The E1 U.S. release timing is pure coincidence. You have no idea the issues in getting materials for this series, from imagery to masters, which demonstrates why it’s taken 2...
Madman Entertainment has been preparing a release of Ellery Queen for our end of the world for close to 2 years. It has been a real challenge in locating materials which has been the major frustration and cause of delay - it's definitely been a case for Ellery Queen to piece together....
But...
Hi all,
For those purchasing the Australian sets, Season 5 is tentatively slated for release by Madman Entertainment in May 2010, with subsequent seasons continuing throughout the year.
Cheers
