Mixing new TV with old Theater...Help!

My applogies Mr. Gatie... For some reason I thought it just said analog, i was tired and just got home from work. My Bad. No need to get to excited. Yes, using the 5.1 analogs would sound just as good. As far as what I said before regarding digital coax and optical not sound as good as HDMI...

    Recommendations for my viewing habits?

Looking at any video screen on a showroom floor will not give you the best viewing conditions. Not to mention the the TV's are set in what most people would call torch mode. That is why some screens come with a choice of Showroom use and Home use. The Home use tends to be more towards D65 and...

    Recommendations for my viewing habits?

Very true, my post was exaggerated. In certain situations I can see DLP as being an acceptable choice. In smaller rooms dedicated to theater systems, where seating positions are in the center and lighting can be controlled. I did have an older set and it bothered me so much that I just cant...

Mixing new TV with old Theater...Help!

The above will work fine, but i would break down and buy a new receiver with HDMI inputs. You will get far better audio quality from both DTV and the Blueray.

    Recommendations for my viewing habits?

I would not do a DLP!!!! It may seem like a great deal but in my opinion the picture is not that good and you will regret spending your money on that. You can find 50" plasmas for that price that are good deals. If you like LCD, just get a smaller version, 46" LCD will work great at the...

    Home theater project

Sounds like you will not be using a center speaker, is that correct? I would go with and Onkyo 707. It will give you 7 Channels for the theater room and an easily controllable Zone 2 setup. Of course with out the center you will have to set it up for Phantom center. I would also invest in a...

I need help with my ht setup

Yes, keep the optical audio out to the receiver for the Xbox. I am not sure what Recorder DVD is good, dont have much expierence with them. Typically the newer recievers with HDMI do not give you the greatest audio when using optical and or coax digital audio anymore, I assume it is because...

Quick question for Sound Barrier Help

The Fiber board will work, but it is probably more expensive. If you are doing double drywall, i would put spacers between the two sheets, it works much better. Another suggestion is using RC channel. This is placed on either the studs horizontally or on the first sheet of drywall. By doing...

I need help with my ht setup

You should hook up everything through you Yamaha receiver. I believe this model allows for upconversion through HDMI. If you plug the XBox via component video to the Receiver and then the DVD player and Cable Box via HDMI. You then use the HDMI out from the Receiver to the TV. This way the...
