I would get an impedance matching box, it may be that the impedance is so high with them wired in series that you are having trouble getting enough power to the speakers to drive them properly. Especially considering that they are outdoor speakers and you are losing so much SPL due it being...
If everything is going through the receiver and then just one HDMI out to the TV then you do have to switch receiver inputs, but you don't have to switch the TV inputs. Personally I think that this solution is just as easy as going through the TV and you will be guaranteed that the receiver...
If you don't think you are getting enough out of the sub there's certainly no harm in bumping up the sub channel level a few dB. I have heard from folks that the Pioneer SC series don't have as much subwoofer channel output as some other receivers.
I'm a big believer in the "bass crawl" method of sub placement myself. http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/speaker-setup-guidelines/crawling-for-bass-subwoofer-placement
Personally I'm a big fan of the non-directional sound that you get from a bipole/dipole speaker in terms of surround effects. With less direct sound I feel like I'm really immersed in the action rather than being able to tell that the sound is coming from the speaker as is often the case with a...
I have the bluetooth version and use it as an ipod speaker when I am traveling or camping. It definitely provides an impressive amount of quality sound from such a small speaker, especially in the bass department. It also works fairly well as a cell phone speaker, although it can pick up...
With more true 7.1 sources coming down the pike I would go that route. Height effects will remain matrixed for a while, at least I haven't heard of any plans to implement them in any theatrical mixes.
I definitely want to see this, there just aren't many smart sci-fi films these days, although Moon certainly falls into that category. Now I just need to convince the wife that she wants to see it too. . .
If you aren't using the 6 ohm setting already you might try that, it could be that the speakers are drawing more power than the receiver can dish out and it is going into protection mode to avoid overheating. Setting it to 6 ohms will limit the power to the speakers and could take care of it.
Ah, nope the threaded coax on the back of your receiver is just for FM radio. You will not be able to get the cable TV signal directly to your receiver without a box, sorry.
You should be able to assign the coax input by getting into the input assign submenu in the input setup menu. Choose C1 for the SAT/CBL input and that should do it. You want to use the orange coaxial input on your receiver, and the cable you need to use is a coax cable with an RCA...
Your real problem is that a soundbar like that isn't intended to be used in conjunction with a 5.1 system, it's designed to be an all in one surround system. If you insist on running it with other speakers, can't you just run it right off of the TV and then hook the other speakers up to the...
Being a child of the 70s I have to give it Vader too. Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker deservedly gets much praise, but I really like Jack Nicholson's Joker too, and of course he was magnificent in The Shining too, although it could be argued that the hotel itself was the real villain...
What's the speaker crossed over at? Sometimes auto set up will crossover the center channel too high, make sure it's crossed over at 80 Hz. The other thing I would suggest is to experiment with the different surrounds modes. Pro Logic IIx works great for most people, but one of the...
A center channel up front makes sense because you want to anchor the primary dialogue to the screen. Since you don't have a screen behind you and because you have two ears having two speakers for the rears makes sense to me. As for why it has never really impressed you like 6.1, perhaps...
I think the Onkyo 607 presents a great value, and its amp section is superior to similarly priced Yamahas and Pioneers, although the Pioneer 1019 does best it in terms of video processing.
We used to sell them, and I can only recall one or two customers having any problems with them since they...
Check the channel levels, sounds like you may have the subwoofer channel boosted too high.
It's not impossible to blow out a subwoofer, but you have to push them pretty darn hard, especially a Velodyne.
