Incase anyone is interested, here's a review I wrote on the remake after seeing it last night: This was worth the wait -- most of the time remakes can't live up to an original's charm, much less its tactile impact in terms of originality. But in updating the almost-forgotten Taking of Pelham...

At the end of the day, what I meant was that it can be a bit overwhelming and daunting keeping on top of which studio creates the film, which one markets it and which is in charge of releasing the title to the home video formats -- it seemed weird to me on Quantum that Fox even had their name on...

Thanks for the info, 'Hollis! For this film, I think I may just stick with the standard definition two disc Special Edition; I was VERY happy with the transfer Fox gave Poseidon Adventure for the SE -- a wonderfully clean look for that film.

That was an interesting fact that I overlooked -- this Pelham remake is being made by Fox, yes, with the co-production by Scott's Scott Free studio? The original was released by MGM, wasn't it? But wasn't Quantum of Solace released by Columbia/Fox/MGM?

If you're referring to the original here, I agree -- no need to go Three Disc Ultimate Edition psycho...just a good, clean transfer and perhaps a multichannel audio mix from the mono...:emoji_thumbsup:

Interesting, Luisito; this reiterates what Paul was saying may happen with the release of the remake. Perhaps fans who don't own a copy of the original should indeed wait it out until November...

I'm just going by what Paul suggested, that perhaps when the REMAKE hits home video, that's when the remastered "special edition" will street, as well...:confused:

Wow... I can remember reading this thread back in '04 or whenever it was that the set came out -- and it made me buy the Terminal Pack! What's so weird about it is that over the past year or so, my fiance and I have been taking the Terminal Pack off the shelf to watch mainly the original...

Thanks, 'Daddy. What Ronald said made sense I suppose, regarding the wait for a re-release with the remake on the way, etc. but I've seen last-minute releases of remastered titles just before a theatrical launch of a remake. It would definitely be cool to get Pelham on Blu-ray though!
