I discovered that the "667" receiver included in the 6100 HTiB is indeed the same power as a normal 606 (90w/channel instead of the stated 130), and it apparently has fewer customization and tuning options. I think this because the bona-fide Onkyo 606, which comes in the 7100 HTiB, is rated at...
Actually I just looked up specs for the JBL S312s (hard to find) and it seems the speaker only has one pair of terminals on the back. This means I can't bi-amp, right?
If I change the fronts to "large" a new setting becomes available, "double bass". Other than that change I still only have a 40-200hz adjustment. I've tried all combination of channels at small and large, and the sub set to "yes" and "no", but still only one all encompassing crossover is...
I have a Onkyo 6100 HTiB, which comes with the 667 receiver. This receiver is basically a 606, except it produces 130w per channel instead of 90. I am looking to upgrade the stock speakers, and have my eye on some JBL S312 floorstanding speakers, which have a 12" driver. I've been researching...
I checked the menus, and I can only find one crossover setting in the speaker configuration menu (where you choose your speakers as "small" or "large"). There is no full pass option, it goes from 40hz to 200hz in increments of 20. Perhaps the firmware on the 667 is nerfed?
The reason I am thinking of keeping it is because the receiver in the 6100 bundle, the 667, is basically a $430 606 except it has 130w per channel instead of 90w! Also it comes with the ipod dock, which I use (which costs $100 by itself). Also it has all the features I want like Audessey...
Thank you for the opinion! It is hard to find reviews on these except for the typical ignorant cnet type reviews. Most tend to review the beta 50s. Do you think there is a market for the stock 6100 speakers? I can still return the HTiB as it is within the return period, but I'd rather just...
I am looking to upgrade my stock Onkyo 6100 HTiB speakers. I found these new for $130 per pair locally, and the Beta C250 for $80. So I could upgrade all my speakers for $340 (minus the sub, of course). I know they are not $3000 speakers. How do they sound for the price, though? They will be...
How thick are the colored wires inside the white sleeve? If they are really thin it may be a home networking cable of some kind. Although hard wiring for home networking is going the way of the dinosaurs. If they do turn out to be networking cables and not for audio, since you already have a...
Thanks guys. I don't think this receiver lets me set separate filters for the sub and filters. There is only one crossover. I'll try 100hz even though 80 sounds better to my ears. I don't want to harm the speakers. Unfortunately the cable that came with the sub is about 3' long, not...
Hi all! I have just installed an Onkyo 6100 HTiB as my primary home theater system. I know it is not the best, but it fell within my budget. Luckily, I have some experience with car audio (I run Rainbow components and an IDmax subwoofer), so this is not all new to me! I had a few general...
