    Classic TV Westerns

I'm pretty sure I've had all of The Rounders for years but The Cowboys is a very rare show which hasn't been seen in decades and I think I might have gotten one, maybe two episodes at the most from film over the years.

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

With all of the great television series in the WB vault, which haven't seen a home video release OF ANY KIND, what a waste it would be for them to instead re-issue mediocre movies hardly anyone remembers which are already available.

I watched a few Kodiaks at UCLA and its not that bad. True, Walker was a wooden actor, but its just another in the long line of Highway Patrol clones, except with better scenery. The Alaskans is unintentionally funny, with actors sweating in their heavy coats in warm Southern California. Likely...

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

That won't happen. Won't go lower than where I am now. Anyway, solved the Colt .45 problem. Even though I have a good portion of the series from 16mm film chain masters, I still want the DVDs. My friend can down convert them to regular DVD for me. I just hope they aren't in a screwed up aspect...

    Network Goes into Liquidation

Its a shame that Network didn't have interest in ITC shows made for the American market, like Oh Susannah. Plus, just when they finally made the deal to start releasing the long long Danzingers produced series.

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

I need the flat top that my CRT set provides as I would have no place else to put my Emmy Awards, lava lamps and Dawk, which currently reside on top of the set. Financials are not an issue. When my faithful 35 inch JVC finally died, I replaced it with a 32 inch someone gave me a few years prior...

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

Are they cut or timesped? The theme does seem a little bit fast to my ears. At some point I should A/B an episode with the version I have from 16mm and see what cuts are made, if any. Obviously all of the bumpers in and out of commercial were chopped out when they remastered all of their series.

    shows that have been destroyed

The other sports don't have nearly the history with their films that the NFL does and they've always wanted their films being the sole source of any kind of looks back at any game. What's ironic is that they have their own network and a treasure trove of great shows that were produced by NFL...

    shows that have been destroyed

I was there as well. While historically significant, it wasn't a close or interesting game, as most of the early Super Bowls weren't. It's funny how when it didn't exist it was worth a million dollars and when it did exist, the value dropped by $970,000. I don't blame the owners of the tape for...

Studio One is CBS owned. Matinee Theatre is NBC/Universal. Decades ran a ton of Studio Ones that I recorded and Matinee Theatre surviving episodes are syndicated in the Universal Bob Hope Chrysler Theatre syndication package.

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

Watching a show with black bars on both sides of the screen isn't enjoyable for me. If it doesn't bother you, then more power to you. I can't watch that way nor can I watch a show that's window boxed.

Colt .45 - The Complete Series - Coming to Blu-Ray on March 12th '24 (Warner Archive)

I think what I had to do in order to watch Ozzie and Harriet normally was to hit the zoom button on my DVD player. As for getting modern equipment, I don't see the point since 99% of what I watch is meant for 4x3 standard TV, not 16x9 high def on a 100 inch screen. Not to mention the fact that...

Are they in proper 4x3 aspect ratio or are they stretched or the tops and bottoms of the screen cut off?

    Tonight Show "Vault" Series-Some Thoughts

What was the line in Animal House? Face it Flounder, you fucked up, you trusted us. That's what NBC told Carson (and Steve Allen as well, who thought his Tonight Shows were being saved). Unless these entities took control of their own shows, the networks couldn't be trusted to preserve them...

Well, I don't have a blu ray player or an HDTV so I guess I'm SOL with this series. Hopefully it eventually shows up somewhere that I can record it since its not coming to DVD. Oh well.

    The Farmer's Daughter (1963-1966)

Of course, but that wasn't going to be one of the options. The 2 options were no DVD release or editing. These chose no release. I have all of the detective series in Frankenstein form, pieced together from 16mm film transfers and various broadcast airings, the best of which were from KTZZ in...

The Complete Lone Ranger on DVD?

Okay, so streaming has the episodes complete and uncut with no time-speeding? Are they in proper 4x3 aspect ratio or fake 16x9 widescreen?

    "FilmRise TV" DVD sets?

When you get it, check out the other episodes from the Shout set which have dubious running times. Any show from that era, an episode coming in at less than 25:10, I have to believe is edited.

    The Farmer's Daughter (1963-1966)

All of the Warner detective shows had night club scenes that were used as filler, with Connie Stevens or whomever belting out numbers. Even if it just was a bar with background music, all of that has to be cleared. That's why when they put these shows up on their short-lived streaming service...

    "FilmRise TV" DVD sets?

Silly question but wouldn't it be more economical to DVDR the one episode rather than buy the full series?

It Takes A Thief: The Complete Series DVD Review

So many of these pilot episodes were screwed around with. I have a friend who knew someone with the original Invaders pilot which was shot for a 90 minute timeslot (which would have run around 75 minutes. CBS was never able to locate this. I have 4 different versions of The Man from UNCLE...

    The Farmer's Daughter (1963-1966)

Amazing how much misinformation there is. 35mm negatives held by major studios don't vanish into thin air. Maybe videotape transfers, such as were lost in the Universal fire. The film negatives and 35mm prints were stored elsewhere. 2-inch masters are a different story. Those were burned up in...

It Takes A Thief: The Complete Series DVD Review

For example, the other 90 minute series we can use for comparison from that era would be Name of the Game, which clocks in complete at 76 minutes. So then it seems that there should be a third version of the pilot somewhere!
