Looks okay to me, sharper, but I'm no expert on evaluating PQ. I'm watching on a 32" screen. Gate weave is noticeable during the Columbia logo and credits, but since the movie takes place at sea, it's not noticeable elsewhere. Not sure if there was any restoration. Extras include french dubbed...
Firstly, I said it was the delivery date shown on Amazon, not Kino which always says they deliver early. I don't think retailers (aside from Kino) are allowed to deliver before the release date, but regardless, Amazon updated the delivery time closer to the release date.
Amazon has shortened the delivery date (for me, day after release date).
Review on Dvdbeaver: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film12/blu-ray_review_161/columbo_70s_seasons_1_to_7_blu-ray.htm
"All episodes offer 'optional Music and Effects Tracks' plus the package has an episode guide booklet. So, no...
Price drop on Amazon, but the delivery date is 2-3 weeks after the release date (depending on chosen method). So they aren't shipping or delivering on the release date.
The pre-order price on Kino has been listed for awhile. I'm waiting to order in case they restore the commentaries, which might result in a price change and mess up orders.
I had the Studio Canal UK blu-ray discs but only watched a couple episodes because I didn't like using my region-free player. I got rips of the Studio Canal (German) set which I assume are the same, but never watched them. Checking the Man Eating Plant episode, I can see the horizontal jitter at...
I don't know what a thread ban is, but my last post was removed. even tho I wasn't name calling, just making a light-hearted response to the threat. Why not echo my previous post that people should use the ignore list instead? Or is that too weak and people should know better by now, hence the...
I wonder if there's some Columbo fans with cachet (like how David Schow and Gary Geranai helped with Outer Limits and other releases) who could inspire whatever changes necessary between the parties to get the original bonus features reinstated.
Not to mention, not everyone has a coffee table these days. As Ratso Rizzo said, "For a stud in New York, that's a handicap." He was talking about body odor, but it still applies.
That's great about the music/effects tracks, but if they couldn't keep the new commentaries, I wish they could have kept the commentaries using interviews with original actors. And who knows if this is their final decision, they probably still have time before they mint the discs.
But a legit music release is unknown, while this promised to be the most comprehensive alternative. Probably not a big deal for Columbo fans wanting an HD release, but was the main draw for me.
I'm not a KINO expert, but I don't think they usually do bonus music soundtrack tracks, so I had my...
This wouldn't apply to the commentaries which are new and could be re-acquired from those people. And whatever film or music elements that were digitized probably had back-up copies somewhere.
The whole point of commentary is offering relevant or gritty historic details. It's not about doing PR work for a company or person. Plus they cancelled all the extras, so it can't be a petty squable over hurt feelings. I hope Frank Tarzi has some explanation. I remember when "Ghost of Sierra de...
