Great review and a excellent film and already have the Kino disc and it’s a nice improvement over the Imprint release with brighter colors and better detail.
I liked Mad Wednesday and did enjoy Harold Lloyd’s funny performance and hope Kino might get the rights to release it on disc. My only copy of the film I have is a disc recording from a TCM broadcast and the print shown was in bad condition.
Le Samourai is one of my favorites from Jean-Pierre Melville and wished he made more films but died at an early age of 55 in 1973. Will watch the TCM broadcast this weekend.
Have the Blu-ray and did an a/b comparison to the Imprint release and this new Kino disc has brighter colors and more picture info on the sides and a sharper image. Great film and will keep both of them on my shelf.
Even though the information is out of date I still enjoy watching Our Mr. Sun and it brings back memories of me watching it when I was a kid in grade school where they would show it many times.
I usually don't disparage other movie review web sites but the recent Blu-ray.com review of the film giving it two stars and calling it a "borderline surreal disaster" and a "cinematic catastrophes" is in my option completely wrong and do not agree. It's not a perfect film but have seen it many...
I started to watch the Oscars back in the late 1970’s and watched them every year until about five years ago when I stopped. Just don’t care for most of the films that come out.
Great film and one of the reasons I went into laserdiscs years ago was to buy the Criterion release which I still have. Bought the dvd and will get this new release soon.
I live in the Chicago area too and the first time I heard tornado sirens in February. Last Tuesday there were 11 confirmed tornado touchdowns in the area which is more amazing in late February.
Amazon currently has a good price of $14.99 on the Kino Blu-ray.

Just a FYI to anyone who can get the FETV cable channel that this Sunday they will be broadcasting The Alamo as part of their weekly John Wayne film marathon.
Last month AT&T internet was down for 3 days before i had to switch to T-Mobile because i work at home and could not wait for it to be fixed. Very disappointed at AT&T and for what they did to DirecTV.

NEW The Lavender Hill Mob: Analysis by BENEDICT MORRISON...
One of my favorite westerns and a easy buy. One of the reasons i bought a laserdisc player back in the 1990's was to see this movie in a letterboxed format and i still have that laserdisc.
British label Altitude Films will release this year the documentary "Made In England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger" narrated by Martin Scorsese. A Blu-ray release will come out later this year and will look forward in seeing it.
I still have that Criterion laserdisc and the first time i have seen a Ozu film and thought it was great. I bought the disc when i read a great review of the film by Roger Ebert.
