Hi all, I have the SVS 5.1 setup with 5 scs-01's and a PB12 Plus woofer. I noticed a slight crackle coming from the rear speakers. I've never noticed it on movies or games, I noticed it on some of the channels on cable. Is it possible it's just bad sound on that particular channel or could it...

My PS3 is connected via HDMI. I didn't realize that PLII was simulated surround. When I'm watching cable, the sounds comes in as Dolby Digital which now I know is better than the PLII!! I'm away at work now so I will play around with it more when I get back home.

Hi Ed, thanks for popping in! My cable is connected with 2 cables running to my receiver actually. One is an optical cable for audio, and on my Shaw cable box there's a video connection on the back of it (can't think of what it's called) but I had to get a special adapter with an HDMI...

I now have the PLII for movies and music now....I still can't get it for my cable though.......

I'm having trouble having my receiver stay with one audio setting. I want to set it to PLII for movies, games, as well as my cable box. I have a PS3 that I use for DVD/Blu Rays if this helps with anything. Does anyone have any insight?

I'm getting stands soon enough for both the front and the rears. Where my sub is placed at the moment is where it's going to stay b/c that's really the only spot in the room that has space for it.

OK, I went and bought a single RCA cable (there's just one cable). It says right on the package that it's made for subwoofers. I connected one end to the input on the sub, and the other end to the output on the receiver. I don't get any sound from the sub whatsoever while doing the speaker...

I think the sub should have enough room to breathe. The front is all open, as you can see in the pics. I always thought that the sub was supposed to be either behind the TV (which I don't have room for) or to the side in a corner...

Here are some pics. Is the sub too close to the wall on each side? It's about 6 inches from the back wall and about 4 from the side wall. Is the left speaker too close to the sub?? Will it interfere with it at all? Thanks for looking!! I think this setup looks fantastic!!

Just to clarify Jeff, on the back of the sub there are 2 low level inputs (red and white L/R) Does the single RCA cable attach to the red or the white? Or does it matter? I realize these may be fairly simple questions, but I just want to make sure and not have anything mess up!! Thanks again...

Thank you both for the replies. I do have RCA wires that I used to use with my PS3 until I got the HDMI cables for it. These cables include, 1 white, 1 red, and 1 yellow. Can I just use the yellow cable to connect to the sub?? Even if it isn't gold plated!! haha, it's just the regular silver...

I figured that the 706 would do the trick. Since I'm completely new to this I'm just looking for any many opinions as possible and then making my decision from there. It is nice that SVS does give you a chance to hear them though, I've never seen that anywhere before

I think I will be going with this receiver TX-SR706 for either the 5.1 or 7.1 setup I posted above. Opinions are always welcome

Hi Dave, Eventhough their subs are good, what are there speakers like? Do you have a set, or do you just have a sub from SVS? This is the setup I was referring to. You'll still have to check out their website to see what I'm talking about. Unless you know the SVS models already!! 5.1...

I'm just looking at the SVS site and I noticed that the woofer they have with their system is ported. I always thought that an enclosed woofer would be better in a room?? Any input on this at all anyone?? Thanks again!
