Hello Mr. Harris,
Have you had a chance to audition the new USA Blu-ray of Mean Streets?
Being a WHV product and, in light of this review, I'm curious...
Leave it to the gang at The Criterion Collection to provide quality home video software over and over again. Gotta love that.
Good to see your increasing post count here, Mr. Harris. Always a pleasurable read, regardless of your verdict.
Best,
Rob
Thank you for sharing that, Mr. Harris. I appreciate how it brings out the human aspect of Mr. Kubrick, which so many memories shared by those that worked with him never seem to do.By the way, I screened the Blu-ray of BARRY LYNDON last night and was simply thrilled. It was a relief to see...
If I may take the question one step further, do you think that, say, "2001: A Space Odyssey" or "A Clockwork Orange" would have benefited from the treatment given Dr. Strangelove or do they not need that due to being more recent motion pictures? I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Thank you for your reply...that's great information. Oh yes, I saw that in the STANLEY KUBRICK ARCHIVES book. Amazing! By the way, I totally dig your signature.
I've noticed that there are many films that were shot "full-frame", 1.33:1, yet are matted for a different exposure when viewed by the audience (1.66, 1.78, 1.85, etc.) for good reasons, I'm sure. My question is: How do you know when a film has been shot at 1.33:1 and, therefore, has more...
Please forgive what might be an unnecessary question, but I'd like to ask Mr. Harris if he thinks this Blu-ray Disc is superior to Criterion's DVD of the same film.
Hello all and Happy Holidays, Can anyone here clarify for me what are the correct aspect ratios for: A Hard Day's Night Help! Let It Be ? It appears, at least judging from the DVD, that Yellow Submarine is 1.66:1. I don't know what the offered screen formats have been for the...
Hi all, I have the above-mentioned unit, which I've recently upgraded to firmware version 4.30. I've been operating the unit for approximately two months now. It has performed perfectly almost always. However, something has occurred on three occasions now that has me wondering if my player is...
Thank you all for your responses. I've re-posted this in HT-Software...can we continue there? Travis, could you be a little more specific? What exactly isn't up to snuff? Colors? Density? Something else?
I recently picked up the 5 available Kubrick films on BD. I must say I approached "A Clockwork Orange" with some trepidation, after reading a couple of negative things written by critics online. Of course, I don't believe everything I read, but still, I wasn't expecting much from this...

Just reviving this thread to inquire: Has anyone contact Dean Cundey to ask his opinion of this Blu-Ray disc? I contacted Starz Entertainment to ask if they used the Cundey-approved transfer when they manufactured the Blu-Ray Disc and received no response. I know there has been a lot of...
Hello all, I'm still very new to this forum but I've had great fun reading through all of the various opinions and facts available here. And the fact that Robert Harris posts product reviews here is an extra special treat. I'm sure we have fans of David Fincher's "Se7en" here... I'm...
Hi Travis, I can understand your bewilderment. I made my above statement to play a bit of devil's advocate. Like I said, sure, I would have liked the Blu-ray Disc to include all previously available supplements. I'm only saying that the fact that it doesn't isn't the worst thing in the...
I watched this last night and I must say I'm happy with the presentation of the film. To me, it looks like an "un-futzed with" transfer. Of course, I have no idea what the original negative looks like. On the subject of missing supplements, sure, I would have liked to see the supplements from...
