Wrong. Cameron has worked on all of his home video releases of his films. He never hands the work off to other people - it's his MO. Why do you think it took so long for these titles to come out? Lol
My take on this AI stuff is Cameron used it simply as a time saving measure. Maybe he didn't want to spend countless hours painstakingly restoring each film the old fashioned way. I remember him saying during an interview years ago that his past films are just that - films he made in the past...
There actually are more plants around the US, just not "major" ones. One insider at an indie label revealed on another forum recently that they were able to pick a different plant from a list after not being satisfied with their current one. Of course, a major studio would probably never give...
I suspect women would prefer shopping by themselves and not have anyone shadowing them everywhere. I used to hate being dragged along whenever my Mom or sister asked me to join them, probably to help carry bags lol. Women take forever making up their minds. My grandma used to spend hours...
I don't go to the movies nearly as often as I used to but it's not because I don't want to. I really miss going but there just aren't enough "big" films being made anymore. I want to see Dune 2 so I got on Fandango to reserve tickets and, man, it's worse than I thought. The AMC 25 near me has a...
^ The way that is worded makes it seem like only the Blu-ray will feature the new 4K scan but I know that would be ridiculous so it's all good :)
I'm looking forward to this upgrade. It stands out among Shout's fairly weak slate the next few months.
Do they charge tax? If the shipping doesn't kill a discount, the tax(es) will.
On the subject of Blu-rays that are "good enough", if one has a higher end or even a mid-level player that does a great job of upscaling, decisions of whether to upgrade to a 4K version will be harder. My Panny...
Best Buy steelbooks circa 2022 and later were rather bland and unimaginative, which is why you still saw them on the shelves months after release. Back during Marvel's early days, BB exclusive steels typically sold out within minutes. I remember going to BB to purchase the Thor steel and it was...
Sony is a very odd duck when it comes to physical media. Their discs typically look fantastic but they're always reissuing the same titles. There's already been several 4K to 4K reissues/upgrades - something I thought I'd never see in this dwindling market. Then there's those overpriced Columbia...
Wallyworld does indeed seem to be taking up the Best Buy slack in terms of steelbooks but my post was more in reference to the Disney-Sony thing. I can't say this enough - take it with a grain of salt - but the added square footage at WM is supposed to be for an expected influx of new...
This is by no means "newsworthy" and certainly not a confirmation of anything since the source isn't solid so take it with a grain of salt but Walmart has reportedly agreed, or is making preparations for, to enhance their floor space to accommodate more physical media. The efforts, again...
^ They're gonna have their hands full with the new Disney deal unless the deal is meaningless like so many are predicting. Depending on the schedule, I'm only expecting more pricey Columbia Classics Volumes. Columbia's library isn't very large and their big guns are already on disc.
Song of the South and Looking For Mr. Goodbar are two of the most requested titles in physical media history. The former will never see the light of day while the latter will (likely via Vinegar Syndrome). I have no interest in 'Goodbar' but I can't wait until it's released just so people stop...
My image of Westerns as a young 'un was dudes in outfits that looked like rentals from Central Casting riding around dusty towns in old B&W movies that felt more like TV shows lol. That I got from my dad's viewing habits. Then I graduated to Little House On the Prairie reruns, which was the...
Literally the same day I purchased and wore a sleek Sean John jacket, it got caught on a scaffolding bolt as I was walking down a Manhattan street and managed to tear a hole on it. Sixty bucks down the drain.
I stopped buying expensive clothes during my late 20's, and by expensive I mean $50...
People can be so gullible sometimes. To think that an $1,100 jacket will actually keep them warmer than a $60 one. Talking about those ridiculously expensive Canada Goose jackets that people wear more as status symbols. Every time I see someone wearing one all I can think of is "Oh, look at me...
^ There's an infatuation with "European-ness" washing over everything. Outdoor cafes that serve $9 cups a Joe, fancy "patisserie" wannabes, overpriced restaurants. There's very little out there for real, everyday people. Funny because "everyday" folks still vastly outnumber silver spooned trust...
Disney has had a tempestuous relationship with Amazon but maybe SONY will act as a kind of referee between the companies and the animosity will lessen. I'm just hoping there's a new update that will clarify this deal a bit more, if only to quell the rampant (and baseless) speculation and...
One of the last remaining bastions of affordability, Jack's, a local chain of discount stores, has closed in NYC. Pretty sure it's a typical greedy landlord raising the rent sky high situation. I'll never understand this mentality that everything has to now be either a luxury boutique or a...
Are they still using the Brick & Mortar excuse to try to further bury physical discs? Because that would be silly. Most people buy physical media online now so they can count the B&M metrics out.
Can't tell if you're being facetious or not but I will respond anyway. In the context of what is being discussed, it's widely known (or should be widely known) that "catalog" refers to older films in their library. But I do acknowledge that, yes, studios don't seem to be using the term...
"Oppenheimer" would not be considered catalog, no. Catalog isn't literally any film that's more than a month old. By definition, it's a legacy library, more than a few years old. The older the film, the more the term "catalog" will apply.
I paid $139 at Deep Discount for my copy. There was a coupon that lowered it even further. DD's sister company, Movies Unlimited, was selling it for $179. Amazon hasn't lowered their price because they no longer compete with Best Buy. AFAIK, BB is the only retailer Amazon price matches so...
It'll take something more important than a higher bitrate for me to double dip. I always thought this needed a fresh scan and it deserves one. No more double dips for pretty cardboard for me.
