Sorry for digging up this thread.
But now I'm totally confused. Based on what dvdbeaver screencaptures I always thought this Warner SE of Stagecoach didn't use the UCLA restored print. How could this washed-out, lack-of-detail transfer be from the UCLA restoration elements? Now since criterion...
My question is does this restoration have anything to do with Warner Bros' Ultra-Resolution technique? Judging from the screencaps at DVDBeaver the result looks pretty good, especially the nice registration. This very much resembles Warner's Ultra-Rez restoration and Paramount did used this...
Of course I saw the MK2 version (I owned it actually), and I'm aware that it involved digital clean-up which the Kino DVD/BD lack. But the MK2 version is unbearable for me because it doesn't have the tint, which I think is a crucial part of the film presentation and it's like a TF2 disc without...

according to this site StudioCanal Collection, not only The Ladykillers and The Go-Between will be the next two titles in this series, but also at least some titles from the series will be available to Australia, Japan, and the USA in early 2010.
Awesome!
Covers and designs are almost the same as Optimum's StudioCanal Collection in UK. Germany seems to have one more title than UK which is Three Days of the Condor.
They seem to be using the same restored print (for the 50th anniversary re-release??). Criterion shows higher bitrate than Tartan, however they look almost identical unless you check very closely.
Great news indeed!! My question from another Few Words thread is answered here! Thanks Mr. Harris! Blissful to receive Dr. Strangelove, The Seventh Seal and The Diary of Anne Frank in one day.
