I love that Shout has been releasing shows that most of mainstream have forgotten about but this incident is a huge black eye for their reputation as far as I'm concerned. There's really no excuse for a home video company making sure that the music clearance was taken care of before proceeding...
Man, this sucks. Why would Shout announce a release date and go to all the trouble of producing this DVD set if they hadn't resolved the music issues? I would think that would be the first hurdle to overcome when pursuing an 80s TV series without any prearranged home video music rights.
Finally!!!! Bwahahahahaha! I absolutely loved this cartoon but had given up hope of ever getting an official DVD release. But seeing the Ruby Spears Plastic Man DVD from WB did give me a small bit of hope. I cannot wait for this. Such and underrated cartoon series! Thank you WB!!!
It's up for...
Oh, man! They have to be kidding! No retrospective documentary on the show?! Not even a John J. York interview? That sucks. I was really hoping Shout would come through on this one. Oh well, I guess beggars can't be choosy. At least we will finally get the complete run of the series.
Zap did touch on the rumored relationship between her and Ice and Nitro mentioned trying to get Zap in the sack when they first met. I also liked how they all commented on how Todd Christiansen wasn't a good host. Again, these were some of the best commentaries I've ever listened to.
I'm...
Just got through listening to all of the commentaries. Nitro, Laser, and Zap were definetly candid about their experiences on the show and their feelings about the new show that is no gone. Nitro was very funny as usual and all of them kept plugging their individual sites and products. I wish...
Shout Factory has an episode list up now. The good news is that the pilot is listed but don't know about any music omissions. They've got the contents of the first 4 discs and there are supposed to be 5 discs total; Shout! Factory Store
I'm sure the delay was meant to push it closer to Halloween and get that additional interest. I'm hoping that John York will participate in the extras, as well.
I agree with the others. They're trying to test the waters with this release to see how much interest there is for it. So, they need to price it cheaply and give people episodes they actually want to own. And the first 12 episodes are really painful to sit through, even for fans such as myself...
I just looked over my personal copies of the original broadcast runs and the average running time is about 22min 30sec per episode with all of the credits intact and minus the commercial bumpers. Also, false advertising isn't quite so black and white with DVD releases. Plenty of shows have...
I'm hopeful that since the 90s X-Men releases by Disney were so successful in the U.S. that we might get region 1 DVD sets of Spider-man 90s, as well. Still no word on a complete 90s Hulk DVD set though, huh?
Artwork looks pretty good. Although, I would have gone for a darker pallette. I am worried about the supposed running time of 630 minutes for this 5-disc set. That isn't enough. There were 28 half-hour episodes and a 2 hour pilot movie. Minus commercials, the episodes would be around 22mins...
I think this series will more than hold up, excluding some of the 80s music and stuff. I was just watching my old copies of this show and got hooked on watching them all again even though I was really wanting to wait for the official release. It is just a well written show, and that never gets old.
I emailed tvshowsondvd.com about updating their product info. I'm surprised they hadn't done it sooner. Shout Factory's had an episode listing for the discs for a while now.
I wrote Dan "Nitro" Clark to verify that we were not getting the first 12 episodes from season 1 and this is what he wrote back: "You are correct. They decided not to include the first 12. The set would have been too big -- meaning too expensive for consumers. They wanted to price it right...
I just bought all of the seasons. Man, I love this show. I forgot just how good the episodes were and Jim Nabors and Frank Sutton can hold their own against the very best comedic duos in my opinion. I was unaware of any music omissions, but of course, I'm only halfway through first season. I...
Beans Baxter? Man, that takes me back. I would have said no chance before but considering that Parker Lewis is on the DVD landscape now, anything is possible. In a way, I wish we didn't know about the Werewolf DVD release so far in advance. Everytime I get on the net now, I keep hoping for...
Saw this movie yesterday, absolutely loved it. Not a ST fan at all but it sucked me into the lore and got me interested in these characters and their lives. The special effects were spectacular (unlike the Wolverine film) and the acting was top notch (unlike Will I.AM. from Wolverine). Even...
Man, everyone was on such a natural high since the announcement of this DVD release that it would be a shame to see it tarnished by music omissions or edited episodes. I've noticed that in press releases, studios don't mention such alternations so when do will we find out for sure? Hopefully...
Can't they just substitute generic music in place of the actual songs if they don't feel like paying money for it? I don't see why whole episodes would have to be omitted.
I never thought we'd ever get an official DVD release of this awesome show! Shout Factory continues to put out the most underrated shows on DVD! I can't wait to see the cover art and more details about what exactly we can expect on this set, since they are known for great bonus features as well...
It's a Disney release and they are notorious for giving up on their DVD releases. This series clearly didn't sell well enough for Disney to keep the titles in print.
Night Court season 2 also had 22 episodes on just 3 discs in a standard sized DVD case. Very nice space saving solution and there was no quality loss, either. I love Wings but am hold out until the inevitable complete series package comes along. But then again, I have very little interest in the...
As much as I would love to see a complete series collection of QL, especially with corrections, it's a moot point as far as Universal is concerned. It's just not a money maker for them and I consider it lucky that we even have the episodes on DVD in any form. They just don't think highly of...
Incredible Hulk 80s cartoon (UK) Spiderfriends (UK) Teen Wolf cartoon (AU) Conan the Adventurer cartoon (UK) Tick complete cartoon series(UK) I actually bought a region free player not too long ago for the sole purpose of taking advantage of these international releases. Now, I feel like...
