I'm afraid thats not the case. If it goes in via component (wii) and comes out via hdmi, it comes out 480p and looks plenty ugly. If I set it to upscale it comes out 720p and looks very very very much better. Although at the cost of it being surrounded by black because it changes it to 4:3...
