Did this exact same thing recently with my projector. I was using S-video then changed to VGA to Component cable. Made a HUGE difference!!! My cables had to be 50ft long. I never had a problem.
I'm planning on purchasing an Oppo DV-980H dvd player. Which connection is best for the audio: the optical digital or the 7.1 multi channel connections? I plan on hooking it up to a receiver that has the option for both. I've done a little research and from what I've read the multi channel...
I was just going to post the same exact question till I saw this. Just today I installed a 50ft VGA to Component cable from my projector to my Sony receiver. Well, I noticed those horizontal ghost lines going up the screen too! This is my set up: Component cables from HD Cable box to receiver...
It's the #9. Key - no pin. Well, that answers my question. Thanks! BUT. I've seen photos where all the pins are there. That's why I assumed it was missing one. Are there different kinds? Thanks again.
Hi everyone. Well, I recieved a VGA to Component cable today and upon inspecting it I noticed that one of the fifteen pins was missing. I tested it right away and it appears to be working. My question is am I not getting the full video quality without this pin? I mean it's there for a reason...
Well, just went to ebay and found some VGA/Component cables up to 100ft! Found some that have it in 35 to 50ft. Will remeasure tomorrow then order one. Wish me luck.
I would like to try the VGA/Component adapter, but the way we had to set up our projector it would be hard. We have a two story house so our living room is very tall. The projector is behind us on the ceiling of the dining room entryway witch is lower. So the S-video and rear surround speaker...
Well, this projector didn't come with component plugs. It only has s-video or composite video. But we are getting HD cable channels. While watching a local station, you can flip back and forth between the regular and HD version and see a huge difference. I would assume that if this projector was...
I own a Sharp XR-10S projector with a 100 inch screen. I know its not the top of the line, but I think it looks awesome! I have the HD cable box hooked up to a receiver then to the projector by S-video. Most digital cable channels look really good. DVDs and HD cable channels look great. So I...
Ouch! Run of the mill office projector? Well, someday I'll be able to get a "real" projector. But let me tell you, this one looks AWESOME! Watching DVDs or HD channels looks great. But anywho, thanks for the info. Appreciate it.
Hi, I have a Sharp XR-10S projector hooked up to an HD cable box. Right now I'm using S-video and digital optical connections from the cable box to a Sony STR-DG800 receiver then to the projector by S-video. The cable box has DVI out and the receiver has HDMI in (for cable boxes). If I get a...
Hi, I have a Sharp XR-10S projector that's DTV/HDTV compatible. I have it hooked up to an HD cable box and the HD channels look great! My question is can I hook up a Blu-ray dvd player to it? I ask because I only have two options to hooking it up to a dvd player: S-video or that yellow video...
Well, when I go to the DVD menu if I select to watch the movie in Dolby 5.1 it plays fine. Color and sound. But if I select DTS then there's no sound and it's in black & white. The dvd player is completely wired to the receiver. I used s-video and coaxial (is that correct? white and red plugs)...
The receiver decodes the following: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic IIX. DTS, DTS 96/24, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6 I'm sure I have the cables right. Quess I'll wait and see wat I can do with he remote. Thanks.
Hi everyone. I purchased a Sony STR-DG800 Receiver and connected a Denon LA-2300 Laserdisc player and a JVC DVD player. This receiver decodes 5 Dolby Digital and 4 DTS signals, but when I try to play a disc or dvd with DTS I get no sound! AND the dvd is in black & white. Regular discs & dvds...
